Hi, Everyone

I have a problem with my Utorrent. When I first downloaded it, everything was fine I could download files and everything. Suddenly, It said that my port was not forwarded. But that is not possible because I port forwared all the ports needed on my router (Dlink DI-524). The yellow icon comes up at the bottom of the screen. It says that the port that I use is not forwareded on 207.188.88.134, but I dont understand that since my router has the ip of 192.168.0.1. I forwared the except same port that the utorrent uses onto the router. It still says its not forwarded. The DHT network is checked and so is the UPNP checked too. If that makes any difference, this problem is really irratting me, to the point I just want to forget about the whole thing, can someone please help me with my problem, I've looked at all the posts and tried all the methods, nothing seems to work.

Excellent -- this should be an easy fix. We just need to get some manual rules out of the way so that the automatic UPnP configuration can work.

Make sure UPnP is still enabled in uTorrent's Options (this is the default). Then

1. Shutdown uTorrent

2. Go into your DI-524 configuration and delete all of the rules that you created for uTorrent and its ports. Make sure there are no other active Firewall, Virtual Server, or Port Triggering rules left that would interfere with the ports that uTorrent is going to use.

3. After you are done configuring the DI-524, then disconnect power from it for about 15 seconds, then restore power.

4. Restart uTorrent.

Hi, thank you

but it doesnt seem to work, now the icon turned to red, the speed is still 4/kkbs, and the still going slow. What about the half #of open connections or anything like that. I have norton antivirus but i have disabled it and the utorrent is still not working. It says the port 16362 has still not been forwarded. Should I just delete utorrent and download it again to see if it works?

Im pretty sure its a router problem, because on my others comp and my friends computers the same problem is happening, I even reset the router back to the original settings.

Overloading your connection can cause firewall-like conditions which can make the icon at bottom turn yellow...or if it's really severe, RED and stay that way!

What settings are you trying to use in µTorrent as shown by Speed Guide (CTRL+G)?

What is the measured speeds of your connection, both up and down?

(...and the 'rated' speed of your connection both up and down, according to your ISP's info?)

Download limit:735kps

Upload limit: 307

*as tested

I set it to 200kps at the download limit

and 60Kps to the upload limit.

Maximum # of connections : 80

connectet peers per torrent: 55

I configured, same thing yellow.

Typically, the measured speeds in speed tests are in kilobits/sec or megabits/sec.

...But µTorrent's file transfer speeds for uploading and downloading are in KiloBYTES/sec.

So if you only have:

Download limit:735kps

Upload limit: 307

...then even theoretical maximums for your connection are:

Download limit:91 KiloBYTES/sec

Upload limit: 38 KiloBYTES/sec

...and typically, that's only 80% usable due to protocol overheads and less-than-perfect conditions, so this my really be all you have to use in µTorrent:

Download limit:73 KiloBYTES/sec

Upload limit: 31 KiloBYTES/sec

I tried that still not working. I just have a question, see my static up address is 192.168.0.199, rite

then when it checks to see if the port is forwarded or not, how come it checks

*

Checking port 38783 on 207.188.88.134...

Error! Port 38783 does not appear to be open

*

I dont understand that if the address is 192.168.0.199, shouldnt it check address, instead of some random 207.188.88.134, I cant even connect on the other computers too, even other programs, like bitcomet.

Im pretty sure its a router problem.I even reset the router, same problem

How come this message appears too,

*Please make absolutely sure that PeerGuardian2 or Protowall is allowing utorrent.com (72.20.34.145)*

what does that address have to do with anything, I thought it was a port that needs to be forwarded.

µTorrent checks port forwarding by trying to connect (loop through) 72.20.34.145...and back to you.

Your 192.168.0.199 ip address is your INTERNAL LAN ip address, not your internet ip. It's like someone calling you and asking where you're are...and you say "I'm in my kitchen" instead of your street address. If everything's forwarded correctly AND you don't have any blocking firewall programs, a connection made to your internet ip on the correct port SHOULD manage to be forwarded/routed to your computer.

So then my internet ip is 192.168.0.1, that the address I used for limewire port forwarding that worked, but it didnt work for utorrent, i read about static ip address and all, that why i had 192.168.0.199 in.

No, that's probably your ROUTER's LAN ip.

192.168.0.199 is your computer's LAN ip...and should stay that now that you have it set as static.

207.188.x.x is your INTERNET ip.

Posted

so then whats exactly 207.188.x.x? you mean 207.188.88.134, so then when i forward the port it should be that address, i've already done that im getting the same message. The connection is still dead, yellow on the bottom.

On the router Wan area, its shows dynamic and static, right now its on dynamic should i change that.

The router's WAN address is your internet address. That should be dynamic.

Only your LAN addresses (the 192.168.x.x ones) should be STATIC.

207.188.88.134 is your internet ip. That's what peers and seeds try to connect to. If you've port-forwarded correctly, they successfully connect to your computer. If not...well, they don't.

You may have a hidden firewall program in your antivirus software or antispyware software that needs to be disabled/configured.

So when i port forward it on my router, which I IP should i put, 207.188.88.134, or 192.168.x.x, so on the Lan area part of the router that should set to static, or should I not interfere with the router at all, just do the connection on the pc, like how it shows on portforward.com
