KyleH Posted August 8, 2007 Report Posted August 8, 2007 I am having similar problems as others. I have Windows XP SP2 and a decent comp. I have a cable internet connection connected directly to the Cable Modem. About a month or two ago, after having no problems with downloading tons of stuff, whenever bit torrent is running it is ridiculously slowing down the internet. I used to be able to easily watch streaming videos on FireFox while downloading anything. I can download with P2p Software just fine getting 300kb/s with Ares sometimes, 100kb/s frequently. A quick run down of possible solutions I have checked:-I have not been throttle by my provider.-I modified TCPIP.sys to 50 with LVLord and have tried changing net.maxhalfopen from 8 to 25 with no change. -I disabled Windows Firewall with no change.I have not been getting decent download speeds through bit torrent either, usually downloading only 10-45kb/s even after its been running a while with a number of seeds that would normally give me 100-400kb/s before I started having problems. Even downloading only 45kb/s it slows down the internet for me big time.. I went to dslreports.com to try to get a speed report to compare differences, but after 5.2 seconds, it timed out and couldn't even establish the connection! So I closed Bit Torrent, and literally 10 second later:http://www.dslreports.com/im/34884436/642.pngI am using Version 1.7.2 and it says my internet connection is ok with the green check at the bottom.
Switeck Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 You need to try decreasing µTorrent's net.maxhalfopen down to 1-6 to see if that helps.Troubleshooting guide for slowed internet access:http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?pid=258231#p258231
