Viera
I don't know if this has been asked before, but is it still possible to download torrents at a reasonable speed using a dynamic IP instead of going through the hassle of setting up a static IP? nos_slived
Static IPs only apply within one's own LAN, to allow them to forward the port to their computer. Unless you're behind a router, there is no need to be concerned by this. If you're behind a router and don't forward the port people will not be able to download from you, which will not only lower your download speed, it will also mean you're contributing to the destruction of an otherwise great protocol. slipstream
Correction - *some* people will not be able to download from you. More precisely - those who are also behind a router and do not forward the port.
Switeck
...Or those with an unconfigured software firewall.
