rimsky Posted August 11, 2007 Report Posted August 11, 2007 when I click on one of the labels in the left column, the right window displays the selected subset of torrents, but then after a few seconds (variable) the focus then automatically resets itself to All.I've just updated to the latest version and the problem still persists. Can you help?Thanksrimsky
slipstream Posted August 11, 2007 Report Posted August 11, 2007 Cannot reproduce here. Does this happen after clicking default categories (Downloading/Completed etc.) as well? If this focus jump also happens in any other list (in the torrent list itself for example) - then it looks just like sticking "Home" button either on the keyboard or on the multibutton mouse (if you got one of those).
rimsky Posted August 11, 2007 Author Report Posted August 11, 2007 No, it only happens with the labels. The default categories work fine. The timing is strange. Some times it flips after only a second; at other times it resets the focus after almost a minute. This happens independently of any keyboard/mouse activity. The only non-standard aspect of my set-up is that I'm running uTorrent on my second PC and connecting to it via Remote Desktop from my first PC. I've not experienced any similar problems with RD, but thought I'd mention it anyway.
slipstream Posted August 11, 2007 Report Posted August 11, 2007 Cannot reproduce via Remote Desktop either.
rimsky Posted August 11, 2007 Author Report Posted August 11, 2007 Thanks slipstream. I'm not sure where to look now. Any ideas?
Ultima Posted August 11, 2007 Report Posted August 11, 2007 Get Process Explorer from sysinternals.com, run it, File > Save, then post the contents of the saved process list in the .txt file here.Does the problem continue to occur if the category list doesn't have focus? Like, after you select a label, select a torrent in the list to the right so that the torrent list has the focus.
rimsky Posted August 12, 2007 Author Report Posted August 12, 2007 Thanks Ultimata, I'll get process explorer and post the file. The problem occurs whether the focus is on the category list or one of the torrents in the list.I've just noticed another problem now. I created 5 persistent labels and only 4 of them are showing in the list. All 5 have torrents assigned. I've tried restarting, but same thing.---------------Process PID CPU Description Company NameSystem Idle Process 0 58.82 Interrupts n/a 2.94 Hardware Interrupts DPCs n/a Deferred Procedure Calls System 4 smss.exe 792 Windows NT Session Manager Microsoft Corporation csrss.exe 856 Client Server Runtime Process Microsoft Corporation winlogon.exe 880 Windows NT Logon Application Microsoft Corporation services.exe 928 0.98 Services and Controller app Microsoft Corporation svchost.exe 1112 Generic Host Process for Win32 Services Microsoft Corporation svchost.exe 1224 1.96 Generic Host Process for Win32 Services Microsoft Corporation svchost.exe 1408 Generic Host Process for Win32 Services Microsoft Corporation svchost.exe 1456 Generic Host Process for Win32 Services Microsoft Corporation spoolsv.exe 1556 Spooler SubSystem App Microsoft Corporation schedul2.exe 1660 Acronis Scheduler 2 Acronis atievxx.exe 1672 ATI Hotkey polling utility Microsoft Corporation HWAPI.exe 1716 McAfee HackerWatch Service McAfee, Inc. mcmscsvc.exe 1732 MISP User Manager McAfee, Inc. Ultima Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 Eh, the only culprits I can see are the ATI hotkey poller (not likely, but worth suspecting) and McAfee. Kill that ATI process and see if it continues to happen. If it does, try uninstalling McAfee, which has been known to behave stupidly with µTorrent (invisible interface text, high CPU usage, etc).
rimsky Posted August 15, 2007 Author Report Posted August 15, 2007 Ultima,You were right! I killed the ATI process and the problem persisted. But when I disabled the McAfee real-time scanning, the problems dissappeared. Turn it back on again and the problems come back. Now I've paid for McAfee and I need virus protection, so I can't just uninstall it. I guess I'm just going to have to put up with the problems. Thanks for your help.Rimsky
Ultima Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 Ugh, McAfee again... Good to hear that you've gotten it fixed though My advice to you: avoid McAfee and Symantec products in the future. They're known to be buggy and bloated.
