Newbie question - network activity continues after shutting down utorr

I'm a total newbie to utorrent and bit-torrents.

When I exit utorrent I still show network activity. It doesn't seem to impact performace on any web surfing. I wondered why it's doing this and how to stop it? Right now I stop it by closing the open port on my router's firewall and all seems well, how do I stop it from windows or from utorrent? Is this anything to be concerned about?

You don't stop the traffic because it's the remote peers remembering that you were on the torrents and not clearing their peer caches.
