trddude02 Posted August 27, 2007 Report Posted August 27, 2007 I just downloaded utorrent and have attempted to download a few things since but it never seems to start downloading. The downloading graph peaks and then drops back down to zero. I have tried with the encryption box checked and unchecked, could my internet provider be blocking sites like this? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
Switeck Posted August 27, 2007 Report Posted August 27, 2007 "blocking sites like this"Actually, it's not the websites they're likely blocking but rather the BitTorrent Protocol...or even blocking the downloading of the .torrent files themselves. And yes, by the sound of it, your ISP could be blocking the BitTorrent Protocol in some manner.
trddude02 Posted August 27, 2007 Author Report Posted August 27, 2007 I apologize for the poor wording I am a newbie and I have the tendency to misuse words. However are there any solutions or ways of getting around my ISP blockage?
Switeck Posted August 27, 2007 Report Posted August 27, 2007 Yes, change ISPs if it's an option.Use expensive VPNs (special proxies) if it's not.Try µTorrent's encryption options...though they're probably already enabled.Do web searches for workarounds others have discovered for your ISP.
