Does Max Upload Slots control the conns for Seeds and Peers or just peers (have assumed peers) and seeds allocated as diff from max conns.

Reason for asking was to determine if/how to control peers vs seeds because there are times I would rather have the peers. I seen where I would have 10-20 seeds and 60 peers and peers were faster!

A perfect world would be dynamic conns and ul slots at torrent properties level! There are times where multiple dls and just need few conns avail for some and more for others along with playing with peers vs seeds.

e.g.

torrent 1 - dling 10-20 sds / 60+ prs > Peers Faster

torrent 2 - dling 1-4 sds / 10+ prs > Nominal

torrent 3 - sding 60 prs > 15 upslots

torrent 4 - dling 20-40 sds / 400+ prs > Seeds Faster

Would look for max conns of 50 to encompass 1,2 but not needed for 2,3 and 3 would allow for most peers to connect!

Hopefully I explained this right and haven't missed logic for connection settings that are currently avail!

Max upload slots only controls how many people you upload to on a per-torrent basis. Max connections per torrent and globally makes no distinction between seeders and peers. It shouldn't matter much, since on a larger swarm (greater than your number of connections per torrent) µTorrent would drop idle peers/seeders to find better ones.

Ok, let's say this particular swarm has 100 peers.

If you were seeding, had 50 connections/torrent, and had 15 upload slots, you would connect to no more than 50 peers, and upload to to 15 of them at any one moment. (possibly 16 because of Optimistic unchoke) However, you would not always upload to the same 15 peers.

Agree with what you said and current actions....

Does this seem a reasonable request??

A perfect world would be dynamic conns and ul slots at torrent properties level!

Or would that just cause kaos with torrent/tracker backbone.

Well, that's not really necessary, since you're not supposed to run more than 2-3 torrents on "typical" broadband connections, so the global settings you set should be enough... and you're not really supposed to use more than a certain number of connections anyway.

max connections are spread to all torrents, peers per torrent is a by-torrent basis, and upload slots are how many peers that you are connected to that you upload to at the same time.
