memory "leak"

juust woke up this morning, browse for some new things, got something worth it.

i started downloading, and go after a coffe.

when i came back, my computer was pretty much freezed.

after a while i manage to get a task manager up, and what i see :

system :

core 2 4300, hdd wd 300gigs sata, 1 gigs ram.

windows 2003 standard server, sp2 + updates.

utorent ver : 1.7.2 (3458)

after i restarted utorent, without restarting system or doing anything else, all things go well.

never happend before.

i dont use firewall beside netlimiter basic one, av = nod, antispy = spybot s&d (if there was a problem with them, they should hung up the system, not utorent ?)

like i said never had any problem.

I have a similar situation but in my case is utorrent hogging the cpu every time i'm downloading something, then the process SYSTEM proceeds to hog the cpu and my computer freezes when i try to open other programs. This happens just with newer versions if utorrent, i think its time to move onto another programs...

NOD32 is a known problem program (set an imon exception or disable imon).

erafy, I highly suspect the problem is with other programs on your computer and their interaction with uT.

Internet security programs specifically.

Blaming uT won't get you anywhere if uT isn't at fault.

i'm using only file monitor from nod32. AMON. and updater .

like i said, it is not a huge issue, at least not for me, and i'm confident will not happend again.

this system is running in this configuration from some time already.

SYSTEM eating a lot of cpu is representative of some driver or OS task taking too much time. It's possible uTorrent is suffering from the same cause. What version of uTorrent did this start happening in?

fr0ggy: If you could indicate which torrent it happened on, that might help us reproduce it. Obviously if you see this same leak with 1.7.4 do let us know. Also, you could "Dump Memory Info" in the right-click menu of the Logger tab, when the process is eating a lot of memory, and that information would be very useful.

When getting NVIDIA message of conflict with UTorrent:

If using an ASUS motherboard:

Take your motherboard install disk an get into \Drivers\Chipset\32bit\XP\Ethernet\NAM\NAMSetup.exe

Start this program - do an uninstall not modify/repair. This will eliminate the problem.

I dont know if it's the problem but i can see in your img that your uTorrent warns for "Disk overloaded 100%".

Happend to me when a file was coruppted in that .torrent.

One version previous 1.7.4, perhaps there was an issue with Nod32 and Imon, i never turned it off but i also got no problems before... I already moved to linux so theres no more utorrent for me but i will always remember the µ as the best torrent program ever made

Can you try running µTorrent in SAFE MODE with network support?

This should eliminate other programs as possible causes of the memory leak...though you need a router to give you some firewall protection. (With only µTorrent's incoming port should be forwarded!)
