mebreuer
After having utorrent running for about 5 minutes, the download speed drops and all my peers upload to me at the same speed of about .2 KB/S. I can usually fix this by restarting utorrent, but there must be another way.
Switeck
Quite likely the newest version is simply too aggressive for your marginal networking hardware and software. It only takes 1 bottleneck to cripple the connection. What's the measured speed of your connection, both Down AND UP?What settings are you using, as shown by Speed Guide (CTRL+G)?Have you changed any of µTorrent's advanced settings?Have you tried the troubleshooting guide?:http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=15992
mebreuer
I'm not completely sure of my connection, but I have Verizon Fios with 20 mbs down and 5 up so I don't think it's the internet connection. Speed settings:Connections 500Active Torrents 100Upload slots 125Connections 2000Max Active Downloads 5I have changed settings from default, but not under the advanced tab. I'll give the troubleshooting a try but you might know whats wrong with this information.thanksedit: I did the troubleshooting but I don't know if it worked yet
Switeck
I can say your settings are too extreme for your connection...that's even too much for a 100 megabit/sec upload connection (20 times faster than you have.)125 upload slots times 100 torrents at once means you're potentially trying to upload to 12,500 people/peers (since seeds no longer need to download anything) at ONCE.With 5000 kilobits/sec total upload speed, that's 0.4 kilobits/sec upload speed per upload slot...or 0.05 KiloBYTES/sec per upload slot!Fortunately, µTorrent will refuse to use that many upload slots per torrent. You're only setting the max, not the minimum when you put in upload slots per torrent. But µTorrent will only allocate about 1-3 KiloBYTES/sec upload speed per upload slot -- so it will still allow 2-4 per torrent.Even though you have a very fast line, your networking hardware and software may not be able to handle over 1000 total connections. It may not even handle over 100 nicely! The Troubleshooting Guide has a section that says if nothing helped, please post helpful information...can you do that?
