sertman
'm not sure if this is in the right forum... but here's my problem. The university I'm attending has a very, very strict cap on uploads and downloads (under 3GB a week) The only things that don't count against your bandwidth are stuff from it's domain. So I was able to find a way around that by using a proxy that the university set up for one of it's departments on my browser. It's an HTTP 1.1 proxy. Is there any way I can use it on uTorrent so it won't count against the bandwidth limits, or am I screwed in that aspect?
Firon
You can only proxy HTTP traffic through that. YOu need an HTTP tunneling software to proxy other kinds of traffic through it (and those are generally pay services).
Switeck
My advice is to set µTorrent very conservatively. You don't need a very fast download+upload speed to do 3 GB in a week...even constant dial-up speeds would do it!DHT for instance uses additional bandwidth beyond what each torrent already uses, so you might want to disable that.Finding local peers might be handy, as they probably wouldn't count against your bandwidth limit. ...but they would be rare indeed for anything besides extremely popular torrents!
