shrimps
Ok, My problem is, when I go to settings, I can't change anything because when ever I click Accept or OK, it always says "Please enter a valid port number from 0-65535" I have tried numerous different numbers and can't seem to get it to work...Could some one please help me out on why it does this? nekobaka
I'm having the same problem with the port. I've looked at the tutorials here and my firewall is exactly like the examples, and it still won't work. It was fine until I updated yesterday. I checked peer guardian too, and it's allowing utorrent. I tried changing port numbers too. uninstalling and reinstalling utorrent, and my firewall. nothing. shrimps
Yeah, I've followed every step removed setting.dat and setting.old.dat and it still has the port problem.
DreadWingKnight
Anything at random. This is an "I have a cat" answer to a very specific question. What port numbers SPECIFICALLY are you trying?
shrimps
Ok....Well I don't see how(anything at random) is an "I have cats answer" but what ever.. Right now It's set at 14063. I can't change it because I don't know what it will allow and 0 through 65 thousand is a large number to choose from to be correct.
funchords
Is this an English OS and an English keyboard? If you type ctrl-g and input the port there, do you have the problem? In Preferences-Connections, if you blank out the field, and simply click "Random Port" and click Apply, do you have the problem?Note: 14063 is a fine port number. The error message that you are getting is expected if you were typing 140630, for example.
shrimps
Yes English. Ctrl + G doesn't allow me to change the port, it's grayed out.Yes I still have the same problem on Preferences-Connections.
funchords
Hmmm. Maybe the settings file is corrupted. Let's try to reconfigure uTorrent from the beginning, and see if that helps.1. Stop uTorrent2. Open a Command Line box (Start, Run, CMD.EXE)3. Type the following commands, one at a time, being careful to get the line correctly before pressing Entercd %appdata%\uTorrentrename settings.* old-settings.*4. Start uTorrent. The SpeedGuide should appear, and you might be able to edit the port now. If that does not help, and you want to go back to your old settings file, follow this procedure:1. Stop uTorrent2. Open a Command Line box (Start, Run, CMD.EXE)3. Type the following commands, one at a time, being careful to get the line correctly before pressing Entercd %appdata%\uTorrentrename settings.* bad-settings.*rename old-settings.* settings.*4. Start uTorrent. Your old settings file is restored.
