Kermyt
Hello,I have hunted high and low to find a solution to this problem but to no avail.I have been using utorrent now for sometime, it does the job and it does it well. Recently I upgraded, when prompted, to the latest version. As of last Thursday 13th (ooh spooky) I have been unable to dl anything. All torrents i try to download are red, the DHT prompts 'unable to log in'.I'm using BTHomeHub, Vista Basic, no fancy firewall just what comes with vista etc (again no problems in last 6months with same pc). All ports are forwarded as required.I'd appreciate any assistance here, my level of computer literacy is beginner to intermediate - so sorry if i don't understand first time. Thanks in advance. funchords
Dread,#2 in that post should take care of this, but part of the problem could be the use of PeerGuardian. After some debate and voting, the bootstrap node is in one of the P2P lists. (It seems to me that the feeling amongst the voters was to include commercial software publishers in the list, and allow users to manually exclude them.)When starting uTorrent, a PeerGuardian user should look at blocked packets in the log. With DHT enabled, they will see a UDP packet to BitTorrent, Inc. being blocked. Simply right click on that log entry, and allow that IP address permanently. (In my opinion, uTorrent, BitTorrent is 100% safe -- I completely trust Bram and his crew.)You may want to add this to your post.
Kermyt
Sorry as stated i have tired all apart from this'2> (If DHT has worked before) Try adding torrents from http://opensource.depthstrike.com/?category=utorrent so that different DHT bootstrap (login) information can be tried.don't follow........thanks again, in advance. funchords
It looks like whatever file is no longer there.Try downloading OpenOffice via BitTorrent -- link http://borft.student.utwente.nl/~adrian/torrentphp/torrent.php/OOo_2.3.0_Win32Intel_install_en-US.exe.torrent -- this torrent file also contains the DHT bootstrap information. You just need to download long enough for a few DHT nodes to get connected, then you can cancel the download. Kermyt
Sorry maybe i musunderstood but must that torrent be opened with BitTorrent and not Utorrent........what about opening it with BitTornado.......which still using.I tried the above torrent with utorrent but 1hr later nothing.I'm at a loss, generally not following what is happening. Could one of you guys break it down and simplify what you want me to do. Once i understand it stays in my brain forever I have now tried turning off my windows firewall and tested it with utorrent and azureus, but nothing not nat no dht. Only thing that works is BitTornado.through my bthomehub application sharing every is set-up to be allowed through the door so to speak.
Firon
BitTornado doesn't even support DHT.For your torrents that are red, look at the General tab for the torrent and write down the error message you see next to Tracker Status. Kermyt
Hence why i hate bittornado....lolNo connection could be made because the traget machine actively refused it. rotates between that an invalid url..... this leads me to think port problem but with application sharing (bthomehub) i have the ports open. Was never a problem until i updated the software of utorent.
Firon
It sounds like a software firewall is blocking it. It often happens when you upgrade the application.Remove and re-add the firewall rules in the Vista firewall.
Kermyt
Step by step what i did.....Start, control panel, windows firewall, deleted previous exceptions for utorrent. Then i clicked on add a program, then selected utorrent.exe, i then added the ports for it both udp and tcp.....still the same error i have now uninstalled and reinstalled previous versions 1.7.4 and it works hunky dory....strange. Firon
Whenever that happens, it means precisely that a firewall (not necessarily the Vista one) is blocking the new version.
