There is a leecher pack to µtorrent 1.7.5. on a certain web page and also on some trackers.

Haven't tried it, don't want to but it would be a shame if µtorrent would be band due to these suckers.

Is this something to be concerned about?

Someone puts out one of these for every revision of every major client. It is a response to closed trackers who are strict with ratio enforcement.

The story is full of irony:

Irony #1. The BitTorrent protocol already rewards uploaders. In many cases, the strict upload enforcement is unnecessary. As a tit-for-tat protocol, the faster you upload to one swarm, the faster you can download from that swarm. If you're a good sharer, you'll complete faster and with a better ratio. If you're a poor sharer, you'll eventually complete but it will take much longer. When a swarm is seeder-heavy, it does not need downloaders to contribute to a 1.00 ratio to remain healthy. When a swarm is seeder-poor, it needs more than 1.00. There is no need for closed trackers to enforce this, as it is a natural fact.

Irony #2. The people who use clients like these are generally poor sharers. They may (or may not) fool their tracker, but they're still going to get a slow download as a result of the fact that they're poor reciprocators. They might as well switch to FTP or non-swarming P2P.

Irony #3. As these hacked clients have been available for years, now, most closed trackers know how to look for them. Using one often will get you banned faster than using a regular client and struggling to get your ratio up in an honest way.

Any single one of those cheating versions can (and will) be picked up by a someone who looks closely enough - I'm sure most of them wouldn't require anyone to look at all, there are plenty of systems in place to automatically ban users cheating like this.

Interesting to see though. S'pose some people will do anything apart from wait patiently for their seeding to complete.
