y3nis
My computer hangs frequently, about every few hours. I cant do anything, so i have to reset it then.It happens when I am downloading torrents with Utorrent/bitcomet/bittorrent. But it will also happen when Utorrent/bitcomet/bittorrent is closed. But when i dont start a torrent client for a few days, it doesnt hang anymore. That is why i think this problem is caused by a client that is downloading torrents (or a peer to peer download program).I have a linksys WRT54G v2 router with linksys latest firmware, i thought that that might be the problem. But everything that i read about this problem, WRT54G & peer 2 peer, they are all saying that only their router hangs and that they need to reset their router. But my computer is hanging! I restarted the rotuer when my computer was hanging but it didnt help.So anyone who had a problem with a linksys router and P2P, did only your router hang or did also your computer hang?Do i need to use the dd-wrt firmware? Or is my problem caused by another problem?gr. Joep
Switeck
There's probably some hostile software on your computer. It takes a network-intensive program like µTorrent to trigger a crash due to the hostile software. So have you run through all the checks in Troubleshooting Guide?:http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=15992If so, post the additional information it asks for here. y3nis
I've checked it all. I probably have a slow DL speed too, the max i have ever reached is about 90KB/s total. And my DL speed is 500KB/s .But i only want to solve the problem that my computer crashes, if that is fixed I am going to check out if i can get a higher speed.I have Win XPPanda virus scanner (this might be the problem?!)linksys WRT54G v2 routerISP = @homeCable 500KB/s downstream 90 KB/s upstreamBE PREPARED TO PROVIDE THESE PIECES OF INFORMATION UPON REQUESTBasic computer hardware specifications (motherboard and/or chipset, CPU, RAM, drive type, etc.)DDR ram 512MB, dual core pentium processor.Your list of running processesNothing unusual here, I've checked if they are suspicious programs with wintasks.Do you need more information? Switeck
It's almost always a bad sign when the system registry is pointing to nonexistent files and folder:O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {E0E899AB-F487-11D5-8D29-0050BA6940E3} - (no file)O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {e2e2dd38-d088-4134-82b7-f2ba38496583} - %windir%\Network Diagnostic\xpnetdiag.exe (file missing)O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: @xpsp3res.dll,-20001 - {e2e2dd38-d088-4134-82b7-f2ba38496583} - %windir%\Network Diagnostic\xpnetdiag.exe (file missing)Unlike µTorrent, BitComet ALWAYS has a piece of itself running on your computer:O2 - BHO: BitComet ClickCapture - {39F7E362-828A-4B5A-BCAF-5B79BFDFEA60} - K:\audio\Bitcomet\tools\BitCometBHO_1.1.2.7.dllO8 - Extra context menu item: Download all links using BitComet - res://K:\audio\Bitcomet\BitComet.exe/AddAllLink.htmO8 - Extra context menu item: Download all videos using BitComet - res://K:\audio\Bitcomet\BitComet.exe/AddVideo.htmO8 - Extra context menu item: Download link using &BitComet - res://K:\audio\Bitcomet\BitComet.exe/AddLink.htm
Firon
Add µTorrent to Panda's exception list.
y3nis
OK Thanks for the tips guys. Can i delete the (no-file) entries from hijackthis?I downloaded Bitcomet after Utorrent. So the crashes are probably not caused by:O2 - BHO: BitComet ClickCapture - {39F7E362-828A-4B5A-BCAF-5B79BFDFEA60} - K:\audio\Bitcomet\tools\BitCometBHO_1.1.2.7.dllO8 - Extra context menu item: Download all links using BitComet - res://K:\audio\Bitcomet\BitComet.exe/AddAllLink.htmO8 - Extra context menu item: Download all videos using BitComet - res://K:\audio\Bitcomet\BitComet.exe/AddVideo.htmO8 - Extra context menu item: Download link using &BitComet - res://K:\audio\Bitcomet\BitComet.exe/AddLink.htmAnd the programs are in panda's exception list (Firewall, it ofcourse does scan for virusses).Do you think it might be possible that my computer crashes because I use a linksys WRT54G v2 router & peer 2 peer software? Or does that combination (WRT54G+P2P) only causes the router to crash sometimes?
Firon
Try removing and re-adding to the exception list.If you're using a WRT54G, you need to replace the firmware with HyperWRT Thibor or Tomato. The stock firmware crashes easily with P2P.

DreadWingKnight
Not really. Routers can't really cause computer crashes.
y3nis
Thanks for the help. I found the solution. It was probably because of panda antivirusscanner.Atm I have a new virusscanner (AVG) and my computer didnt crash yet! :D
Switeck
I think if you do a search for Panda here...you're not the first one with a problem with Panda.
