Vanya
I hope I've used the correct category, Mods, if not please move! Can anybody please tell me which TCP and UDP ports the uTorrent uses, if possible? Thanks in advance,V.
Xtex
it uses whatever tcp port you set in options (under connection I think)for torrents anyway.you can also choose a different port for the webui if you want.
Vanya
Thanks Xtex. It's a tad more complicated and perhaps I should have explained.I'm trying to boost the download speed. Not because I'm expecting lightening speeds, it's that first I'm new to this and second for "some" reason I'm forced to do this through a vpn (it's my geographical location!).As a result my downloads, only managed one so far, are life whitheringly slow.I know I'm not going to terrific speeds, resigned to that but I would like to optimise what I can.To that end I've been informed the PFConfig from the PortForward.com site can help. They don't tell you in their speel where they imply you don't have to be IT clever and it's so easy a numpty can run it that you still need to know your router dns stuff (I got that) but that to properly set up up this PFconfig tool you should know your torrent client's TCP and UDP ports!!!So I'm still stuck with running uTorrent in unoptimised super-slow mode!Anyaway, thanks again. Lord Alderaan
The port doesn't matter. As long as you map it.Whether u use port 49534 or 63201 you won't get different speeds. µTorrent through a VPN is limited by the VPN speed. Nothing you can do about that (except switching to bigger and more expensive VPN connections).
Vanya
Thanks Lord Alderaan, I'm in the position where every bit of info helps almost exponentially.Cheers,V.
