madhouserevival
using the Motorola VT2442 router from Vonage thru Cox cable and have always figured out any port problems. But starting yesterday, no ports I had forwarded would open. I tried different port numbers within the p2p safe range and none will open. As I said, it didn't have port forwarding trouble before yesterday and I hadn't changed any settings. One other thing, according to Utorrent, my network is working fine, even though the port continues to stay closed. And the upload speeds appear to be normal (haven't tested the download yet). Is there a new issue with these routers just like with the D-Link Routers you list in your new sticky? Thanks. madhouserevival
NOOOO! I am very experienced with this stuff. This is something that I haven't encountered before unless my ethernet cable was loose or something. Thanks.
Firon
Well, it's possible your local IP changed. If it did, then you need to reforward everything, or set a static IP so your IP doesn't change again.
madhouserevival
I've already got that under control. Always use static and proper port settings. My download speed is normal (getting about 500 KBS right now, which is better than usual). Like I said, Utorrent reports the network is fine, but the fact that my ports won't open anymore mystifies me. Theoretically, I shouldn't be getting that kind of speed through a closed port. Maybe I'm in an alternet universe! Thanks.
Switeck
You can get crazy speeds sometimes from an unfirewalled peer or seed. It's just more LIKELY to happen if you're not firewalled yourself.
madhouserevival
Hey, just an update. I've tossed out port forwarding and just gone with Upnp and bt.enable tracker (which was disabled for some reason) and my speeds are much better than when I used port forwarding this whole past year. Maybe utorrent just kicks butt if you let it handle the ports. I'm surprised, but not disappointed.
