RauBan
Well, it's not a big deal but as swedish ISP Adamo now is launching their 1Gbit service for home users why not add it to the speed guide?
Firon
cause gbit users can use the 100mbit settings and can just uncap upload... It's not that hard.
Switeck
Anyone with a true 1 gigabits/sec down and up connection will likely experience bottlenecks elsewhere which effectively limits them to barely 100 megabits/sec speeds....unless they run µTorrent from a ramdrive and have a VERY fast computer. Invy
1 Gigabit service? God damn. That makes me feel like wanting to quit torrenting, and the internets.
mishkin
well it depends on there setup... If they are torrenting to lots of others with 100mbit+ lines in sweeden I dont' see why they couldn't max out their upload (110MB/s)You'd likely need to be running 3 seperate torrents on 3 seperate drives to do it... as a harddrive generally won't read faster than 66MB/s drive to drive
hermanm
Or you can get one of these RAM drives:http://www.anandtech.com/storage/showdoc.aspx?i=2480
PAStheLoD
Or you could use a RAID0 array. And a high-quality network card is a must also Well, 1 Gbit is like.. ascending from heaven to some overworld where there are actually manga like willing hot chicks :D:D:D
Firon
Ew, RAID0. Hello, data loss. :/
Casper42
Ugh close the thread already 1Gbit upload? Talk about catering to the 1%-ers. More like the .0001%-ers
PAStheLoD
Hello, always backup to a physically different location in case of alien invasion/jihad/thermonuclear strike/little brother/frequent house parties/etc And first I've used a RAID5 array, but these cheap mobo fake-RAIDs aren't suited for that. Firon
Pure software RAID, on the other hand, is just fine.
