I just got an openvpn tunnel and uTorrent's UPnP doesn't work with it. I am switching to Azureus (arghhhhh) since it has no problems and opens ports over openvpn just fine. If there is a fix incoming shortly I will scrap Azureus migration and wait but if it's not in the plans then no uTorrent for me Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

It's possible it's not working because it tries to send the UPnP request through your local connection's IP.Try binding it to the VPN IP (net.bind_ip and net.outgoing_ip) and see if that makes a difference. VPN provider said that they know of this issue and so far the only solution is to switch to Azureus for a proper UPnP implementation.
