ByName
Hey there, has anyone ever had this happen before? I find it really odd. I've never had a problem before with utorrent until I had completely gutted my computer and put a new one together, now it seems I have issues everywhere. I checked with my firewall and all operations are a go. My problems happen to be my audio settings popping up everytime, several times, while I run utorrent. I also happen to have speed issues, but this one is concerning me the most, it happened first so I figured I'd tackle it first. Here's a screen shot, does anyone even know where to begin with this issue? Ultima
http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=26875It might be a problem with onboard audio just being a bit on the "sucky" side :/Edit: lol, er, I misread your post and thought you said you heard popping sounds in your audio (didn't realize you said the audio settings applet was popping up). Like Firon, I've no clue... >_>

Switeck
Maybe a HijackThis! log can at least give us a clue if something else is to blame?
ByName
I'm sorry to get back to you guys so late. Here's the log, I don't see anything really strange..... but then again, I'm still learning about stuff like this. I suppose I should let you know, the minute I start up uTorrent, my CPU level basically goes to 100. Everything runs really slow, any sounds that are made do the whole lagging mechanical sound. I just wish I knew what was going on. I'm assuming it's all one big problem.HiJack Log:Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.0 (BETA)Scan saved at 6:10:25 PM, on 10/22/2007Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600)Boot mode: NormalRunning processes:C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\Ati2evxx.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exeC:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\Ati2evxx.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccSetMgr.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccEvtMgr.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\SPBBC\SPBBCSvc.exeC:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXEC:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccApp.exeC:\PROGRA~1\SYMANT~1\VPTray.exeC:\WINDOWS\RTHDCPL.EXEC:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\GrooveMonitor.exeC:\Program Files\ATI Technologies\ATI.ACE\Core-Static\MOM.EXEC:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exeC:\Program Files\Last.fm\LastFMHelper.exeC:\Program Files\ATI Technologies\ATI.ACE\Core-Static\ccc.exeC:\Program Files\Symantec AntiVirus\DefWatch.exeC:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\nTune\nTuneService.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exeC:\Program Files\Symantec AntiVirus\Rtvscan.exeC:\Program Files\AIM\aim.exeC:\Program Files\ATI Technologies\ATI.ACE\Graphics-Previews-Common\MMACEPrev.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exeC:\Program Files\Winamp\winamp.exeC:\Program Files\uTorrent\uTorrent.exeC:\Documents and Settings\Glam Nipple\Desktop\HiJackThis_v2.exeR1 - Ultima
Oddities/suspicions:- That unknown file in the LSP chain... Try fixing it with HijackThis, or maybe LSP-Fix- nVidia nTune running alongside ATI's services...?- Any chance the last.fm service is interacting weirdly with µTorrent? Can you try killing the process?- Symantec... if nothing above helps, can you try uninstalling the product (if temporarily) to see if the problem persists without it on the system? ByName
I checked into the LSP chain, even though HiJackThis calls it out, apparently it's really important to hang onto. Nvidia nTune is gone. I killed the LastFM launch helper to see if things would work better. I also disabled Symantec for a little bit. The audio driver didn't come up, but it also didn't really get the chance to. Instantly my system starting lagging out again, I was watching the CPU, it never went above 67%. I'm at a loss for ideas on what else to do here other than a completely fresh install. :/ I figured I'd check back here incase you had anymore ideas before I resort to the reinstall. If nothing works after that, I'm going to want to rip my hair out ha. Firon
Disabling won't work. Try uninstalling.
ByName
As a last resort before uninstalling, I had gone in and basically just triple (by triple I mean the 1000th time) checked my settings. THE ONLY THING I changed was in my speed settings, I checked the encryption option. I then also deleted every torrent I had. Then restarted. I don't know if it was a stroke of luck or what really, and logically it doesn't make much sense to me, but I haven't had ONE problem since. -insert my bewilderment here- lol
