heng7844 Posted October 6, 2007 Report Posted October 6, 2007 hello, i'm a newbie here, my download rate is constantly 10 kb/s, but the the upload rate is 40 kb/s as i'm restricted to be that by limiting in the preference. if i didn't do so, i think the upload rate will be up to 200 . hope some experts hereby can help me, my setting in speed guide is as follow:upload limit 40 kB/s , upload slot 4, connections 200, connections(global): 450, max active torren 3 max active downloads 2, help!!!!!!
Switeck Posted October 6, 2007 Report Posted October 6, 2007 I am reasonably sure your ISP throttles BitTorrent traffic pretty low. You may find most of your upload speed is only to others on your ISP or neighboring ISPs.But to rule that out, have you tried downloading the Open Office test torrents? If they TOO only download at 10 KiloBYTES/sec, then chances are your ISP is at fault.
heng7844 Posted October 7, 2007 Author Report Posted October 7, 2007 i just tried the test you mentioned, i think my problem is even worse than you described, the download rate is only 5-6kB/sec for that torrent!!!!!!!So, the only thing i can do is screaming right?!!:ohello, somethings weird happened here, i desperately changed the TCP/IP setting in the advance setting after i ran the test that switeck mentioned which turned out to be a disappointment, but now my download rate is arround 30-35 kB/sec, this the first time utorrent give me this download rate, anyone can tell me why so that i can keep the setting to maintain this download rate?
Switeck Posted October 7, 2007 Report Posted October 7, 2007 Try making these settings changes in µTorrent:Turn off DHT (both kinds).Disable Resolve IPs under the Peers Window. (That's expensive window-dressing considering it doesn't help download+upload speeds any.)Reduce half open connection max to maybe 1-4. (You're not firewalled in µTorrent, right? ...so it shouldn't hurt as much as you might think!)Disable resolve country flags in advanced.Disable "Enable Local Peer Discovery".Lastly, reduce total connections to 100 or less....maybe even as low as 20 per torrent, though 40 is probably better.Hopefully with this you get slightly more actual download/upload speeds.
heng7844 Posted October 8, 2007 Author Report Posted October 8, 2007 Thanks a lot, switeck. Now i know why the number of utorrent user is constantly growing and it is the most popular torrent engine, it is because of the existence of this forum and the moderators who are willing to help and can reply a post so quickly. Really thanks a lot and i really appreciate the help.
