anthonybeaman
I am unable to us utorrent for my up/downloads for the last week. From a various amount of torrent sites I can do nothing. I am not a computer expert, and I do not remember changing any settings. In utorrent, when alledgedly downloading, under the 'General' tab it states:No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused itWhat have I done wrong that is stopping me doing anything ? DreadWingKnight
Does the problem persist with torrents from http://distribution.openoffice.org/p2p/ ?
anthonybeaman
I dont know, I dont want 'openoffice' !!Anyone know why I am getting the error message previously mentioned ?
DreadWingKnight
It would be easier to troubleshoot if you would co-operate.OpenOffice torrents are known working torrents with confirmed stable trackers.Determining if you get an error with them or not helps us troubleshoot. anthonybeaman
As stated at the start, I am no expert on computers, I dont understand what OpenOffice is, I see no need for me to have it, the torrents I am trying to use are from the very popular providers with over 3000 leechers, one provider is very well know but I will not mention his/her name and all the torrents worked up until last week. What does the error message mean ?
DreadWingKnight
The error message indicates either that the tracker is down, even though the box is up OR that you have something blocking. The OpenOffice torrents are being used for TESTING. hermanm
If this is happening on different torrents and trackers, it is most likely an issue on your end. Some of the links off Google suggest it is potentially a firewall issue:http://www.google.com/search?q=No+connection+could+be+made+because+the+target+machine+actively+refused+itDid you try the uTorrent Port Checker without Peer Guardian running?http://www.utorrent.com/faq.php#What_do_the_Network_Status_lights_mean.3F
anthonybeaman
I checked some of the google responses, and then checked my Firewall, and it was my bloody machine all along. Somehow my Firewall had started blocking uTorrent (was not me, honest) so it was unblocked and now I am free again.thank you for your help
