ajones81
Don't get me wrong, but would you be able to help someone if all they say is "Application XYZ has stopped working!" without any additional info. at all? Some work from your side would be appreciated so we can narrow down the issue first, such as error messages (if any), tracker messages, no. of seeds/peers, network connection icon status (red/green/yellow), connection settings, speed guide report, modem/router make and model, OS etc.

ajones81
Do as DWK suggests, then we can see... Also, have there been any recent hardware/software changes, esp. w.r.t security stuff like AV/firewall/anti-spyware etc.?

Ultima
Ehm... I'm not really sure, but maybe there's a chance that the BitTorrent DNA is conflicting with the ports? Try killing dna.exe in Process Explorer.Performed Windows Update recently?
hanssen
Good heavens, lajj, you can really make your system a lot cleaner not starting all those useless services. Try autoruns:http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/utilities/Autoruns.mspxand switch off a lot of the Logon services that hog your PC. (autoruns always lets you switch them back on if something stopped working, i.e. you can make mistakes with it!)Also have a look at: http://www.tweakhound.com/xp/xptweaks/supertweaks1.htm

Switeck
Have you tried disabling Avast's internet-related functions? (Namely, everything but the AV).Such as...disabling Avast's P2P shield (and web/mail scanner).
