Nighted
The last build that didn't crash was 1.7.2585. Everything since, including the latest version crashes. It especially loves to crash when exiting the program. Nothing fixes it, not removing, not deleting settings, sweet F.A.So basically, whatever changes you made after that build have rendered new builds of uTorrent unusable for me. Today I tried again on a fresh install of windows. No antivirus, no firewall, nothing. Someone please try and explain to me what is going on with uTorrent these days. Switeck
Have you tried Ultima's Troubleshooting Guide?:http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=15992We may need a HijackThis! log (3rd party diagnostic program) if nothing else helps. Greg Hazel
When it crashes, do you get a crash dump? That would be helpful.
Ryan Norton
Whoops - I remember this post back when it was first made. Meant to comment on it but forgot o_O.Anyway, what the first build you used after 1.7.2585 that crashed for you?
Nighted
Every single build after 1.7.2585 crashed.
Switeck
I really don't recognize much of this:C:\Program Files\PS Tray Factory\PSTrayFactory.EXEC:\Program Files\Unlocker\UnlockerAssistant.exeC:\Program Files\X-Mouse Button Control\XMouseButtonControl.exeC:\Portable Files\ClipX\clipx.exeC:\Portable Files\Executor\Executor.exeC:\Portable Files\RocketDock\RocketDock.exeC:\Portable Files\DM2\DM2.exeC:\Portable Files\AutoSizer\AutoSizer.exeC:\Program Files\Mmm\Mmm.exeC:\Program Files\Wallpaper Master\Wallpaper.exeC:\Portable Files\KatMouse\KatMouse.exeC:\Program Files\Sizer\sizer.exeC:\Program Files\Styler\Styler.exeC:\Portable Files\Taskfade\taskfade.exeC:\Program Files\Locate\locate32.exeC:\Program Files\allSnap\allSnap.exeC:\Portable Files\ThumbWin\ThumbWin.exeC:\Portable Files\MouseImp\MIProHst.exeC:\Portable Files\Nirsoft\Volumouse\volumouse.exeC:\PROGRA~1\BASTAC~1\Buzof\Buzof.exeHow much of that can you uninstall (and possibly reinstall) to rule it out as possible crash-causer for µTorrent? Nighted
Well, I didn't have to uninstall anything (That's a bit extreme). I disabled everything from starting and did a few reboots, adding a few programs to the startup each time until I narrowed it down. It seems to be MouseImp (MIproHst.exe) that's crashing uTorrent. Sometimes it will crash immediately, but not very often. I found I can crash it every time when having the "Show confirmation dialog on exit" box checked and then closing uTorrent. If this isn't checked than uTorrent closes without any conflicts. Sorry I didn't find this sooner. I've used MouseImp for many years and never had a problem, even with other apps that use hooks. I hope you find what was added after that beta that's causing the malfunction in the junction.
Firon
Maybe MouseImp has a newer version?
Nighted
No, MouseImp hasn't been updated in years. I've been using the current version longer than I've used uTorrent.
Ryan Norton
> Every single build after 1.7.2585 crashed. What I meant by"Anyway, what the first build you used after 1.7.2585 that crashed for you?"Was what was the first build number that crashed, as that would help a lot. FileHippo sometimes stores old ones if you need a reference.
Nighted
Well, since I try every build, that would be uTorrent 1.7 Build 2740.
Ultima
No, MouseImp hasn't been updated in years.http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=26674Ehm... other reports and even the MouseImp website you linked to yourself seem to indicate otherwise. Nighted
Yes, well, like I previously stated, the current DLL I'm using is the same one I've been using all along, and probably the same one anyone else who uses Firefox is using. The program itself has not been updated and as far as I know the DLL I use has been around longer than uTorrent.Anyway you look at it, uTorrent played nicely with other processes until every build after 1.7.2585. MouseImp crashes no other programs, still doesn't. So it's very likely that uTorrent is as much to blame in this case.
Firon
It's probably MouseImp itself crashing. Generally, when something hooks into another app and the dll itself crashes, it takes down the application too.Still, I might not be right. Ryan Norton
Yeah I did some in-depth testing of it at one point. It had to to with the WndProc chain getting called in the wrong order. Got the mouseimp source and everything... after a couple days at it not sure which one is at fault to be honest, although the uTorrent code looks fine to me; the mouseimp stuff had a very different file structure and code layering then what I was used to which made it kind of tricky for me. When I feel brave enough I'll probably try again...
