TORRENTissyty Posted October 20, 2007 Report Posted October 20, 2007 WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!i dled a game but its seeding and it seems to be stuck... does it has something to do with my dsl (D-Link)? cuz the ETA jus goes backwards and forward...
DreadWingKnight Posted October 20, 2007 Report Posted October 20, 2007 While the torrent is seeding, the ETA is the estimated time for the torrent to reach the seeding goal.
TORRENTissyty Posted October 20, 2007 Author Report Posted October 20, 2007 yes i know that but is it normal if the ETA is goin back and forth?
DreadWingKnight Posted October 20, 2007 Report Posted October 20, 2007 Yes, as your speed varies, the ETA varies.
TORRENTissyty Posted October 20, 2007 Author Report Posted October 20, 2007 what would u recommend me to have as settings, or options in utorrent since i have a Speed touch modem WITH a Dsl (Dl-624) and a VIA Rhine II Fast Ethernet Adapter?
DreadWingKnight Posted October 20, 2007 Report Posted October 20, 2007 None of those have as much a bearing on recommended settings for your connection as the results from speed tests would.
TORRENTissyty Posted October 20, 2007 Author Report Posted October 20, 2007 when will i know if a seeding is finished?
DreadWingKnight Posted October 20, 2007 Report Posted October 20, 2007 the little * in the "#" column will go away.
TORRENTissyty Posted October 20, 2007 Author Report Posted October 20, 2007 After seeding is done should i be able at least playin the game?
DreadWingKnight Posted October 20, 2007 Report Posted October 20, 2007 Maybe, but getting the game to work is beyond our support.
TORRENTissyty Posted October 20, 2007 Author Report Posted October 20, 2007 yes I know u guys dont know if a game will work or not by dling it, i mean if there are no code errors or damaged files in the game will i be able to play after seeding is done?
Switeck Posted October 20, 2007 Report Posted October 20, 2007 You should be able to use whatever it is that you downloaded once you finish downloading it...you don't have to seed it back to start using it...to be fair to others you can keep seeding it while you're using it.
TORRENTissyty Posted October 20, 2007 Author Report Posted October 20, 2007 is this normal? seeds 0(29)while im seeding?
Switeck Posted October 20, 2007 Report Posted October 20, 2007 Yes, while seeding you don't connect to other seeds...but it is nice to know if there's other seeds out there! If there were no other seeds, when you leave anyone still downloading might not be able to finish the download. For really large old torrents, even if there's no seeds...if lots of people have over 50% of the torrent, then they may still be able to assemble completed downloads since each have a DIFFERENT 50% of the torrent. The value to check is availability. Each 1 point of availability is equal to 1 connected seed or multiple peers that between them have 100% of the torrent (though 1 might have 75% and the other 25%.) So while you're seeding, availability is automatically at least 1...since you have the whole torrent. If availability is less than 2 while you're seeding, that means if you leave ...and there's no other seeds shown (like by your seeds 0(29) example)...nobody will finish that download.
