Pls can someone explain me that normally when i download any movie through u torrent why my Upload Speed is normally more than Download Speed,,,,For Ex,, if my download speed is 5.3 kB/s then the upload speed is 6.7 kB/s,,, Hopw with this i do not have to face any problem?

If you've got everything configured properly, then there's no particular reason why it's happening, and it's not necessarily a bad sign that you're uploading more quickly than you are downloading.

I'm got a similar problem. I set my upload to 20KB/s max otherwise it screws up the download speed. Download is set to 0 (inf).

However, my upload still regularly jumps to 100KB/s and everywhere inbetween. My download will jump around also. From ~200KB/s to under 5KB/s, but most of the time it'll jump around between speeds under 100KB/s.

I tried setting the "limit local peer bandwidth" to on as instructed to do on these forums, but that only works for 3 or 4 torrents and then it started acting up again.

I really don't know what's going on, and it's getting pretty frustrating now.

No I don't. I tried both turning it on or off and either way I didn't get the results I wanted. Results that I've gotten in past versions, so I know they should be possible.

You have the 20 kB/s set for both during downloading and when seeding?

No. Upload is set to 20 KB/s and Download is set to 0 (infinite) KB/s.

Although IF my download WAS also set to 20KB/s, I still don't understand why I'd get speeds that jump all over the place and upload speeds that shoot up to ~100KB/s.

My upload is set to 20KB/s. It should stay at or below 20KB/s. Even in past versions the upload would go up to ~21KB/s every once in a while and then go back down. I didn't mind that.

The problem is that now Utorrent sometimes seems to completely ignore the setting's you've entered.

I've tried activating the "limit local peer bandwidth" option, but that didn't help, so I tried turning off "Enable local peer Discovery" and that didn't help either. The above screen shots were actually taken AFTER I turned off local peers.

Sometimes things seem to work find, but it's not long before I start seeing numbers like 90 KB/s for upload when it's supposed to be limited to 20.

Like I said before, it's getting kinda frustrating.

If you have the max number of connections (per torrent OR global) set really high and you're running very busy torrents, you can expect to see extreme gyrations in speeds -- often even exceeding your set maximums.

Did you run Speed Guide (CTRL+G) and stick with a setting that closely matched your connection's upload max?

The connections are set to what ever the default is. I don't know the numbers offhand and Utorrent isn't running at the moment for obvious reasons. I do know that the upload slots was 4 with the "use additional..." unchecked.

Like I've said before, when I set a limit to 20 I expect it stays at 20. This isn't the case at all though. The limits I set are ignored no matter how busy the torrent is.

I really don't understand why if you set a limit it would go over that limit for any reason.

It's like when things freeze in your refrigerator so you turn down the coldness setting, but things freeze anyways. It can only mean one thing: Your fridge is broken.

Did you ever run Speed Guide (CTRL+G) to set EVERYTHING based on the same criteria?

The default settings are basically an "unlimited" setting.

Connection overhead itself can be sizable when you've got 100+ connections at once.

Yes I have. I still don't understand why "Maximum upload rate: 20Kb/s" doesn't mean just that.

People seem to be ignoring the fact that I keep repeating that one point over and over again. It shouldn't matter if I have a million connections at once. Maximum upload of 20KB/s is 20KB/s not 150+Kb/s. There's a big difference between the 20Kb/s I set and 150+Kb/s.

As I said I Utorrent used to keep the upload at 20Kb/s. It would go up to 21 for a second or two, but that's acceptable. Now I set 20Kb/s in the settings and in the torrent properties itself and it STILL goes up to 100+Kb/s!

At first I did have 100+ connections at once, but I used to be able to have 100+ connections at once in old versions of Utorrent without any problems, so I don't understand why it would be causing the problem now. Heck I can have 100+ connections in other torrent apps with and still stay at or below 20Kb/s, so it's obviously possible.

I've switched back to Azureus because of this problem and have no problem keeping a 20Kb/s upload rate while having 100+ connections open on the torrent. Utorrent just seems to do as it pleases no matter what settings you enter.

I really do hope this gets resolved soon because I really did love Utorrent for being so light on my system. It's a shame I had to reformat my computer because the version of Utorrent I had worked like a charm.

The only thing I can figure is maybe Local Peers exceeded your max speed.

Did you disable Local Peer Discovery and enable Limit Local Peer Bandwidth?

Just maintaining idle connections costs bandwidth...roughly 1 KiloBYTES/sec per 40 connections I estimate. A good bandwidth monitoring program would show you that.

µTorrent may have changed how it calculates its used bandwidth to include wastage for idle connections. I know there's some problems when limiting download speed or upload speed really low, as it causes the opposite side's speed to plummet too.

I've tried disabling the Local peer (I don't even know what they are anyways) and limiting their bandwidth. Both haven't worked.

Would Utorrent calculating wastage cause my download to plummet?

The reason I limit my upload to 20 is because as probably every one knows you tend you get really high upload speeds, but that causes your download to stay really low. 20 is the lowest I can set it without affecting my download. While downloading my weekly shows I usually see speeds of ~300Kb/s down and 20 Kb/s up.

Now when my upload in utorrent shoots up to 100+ my download plummets to under 30Kb/s. It does this often, which is why it's so annoying, and it often stays high.

Logically, that wastage would have always been there, right? Why would the way Utorrent now calculates speeds affect my download? Wastage never affected my DL before.

I get 300-400 KB/sec speeds while uploading at 30 KB/sec...and my max sustainable upload speed is only 43 KB/sec. Even uploading at 40 KB/sec, I'll still be able to reach 200+ KB/sec down.

But I only have about 50 connections total.
