strange upload limit

hi...

i have a 2016kbps/256kbps flatrate connection...

and www.speedtest.net shows my speeds are 1715kbps/220kbps (median)

since the whole point of torrents is to share, i have tried the optimal settings for upload ( i.e. upload speed limited to 80%, in my case (220/8)*0,8=22kB/s) but my download rate was crippled (tested it with openoffice torrent)

i did everything from the speed guide, setup guide to Ultima Speed issues guide and cannot find the answer to the following problem:

every time i try to limit upload speed above 15kB/s my download rate cripples (when on UP 15 kB/s i get around 200kB/s DL on openoffice, when on UP16kB/s i get 100kB/s DL and it stays like that all to the UP 26kB/s, when it drops way down to 10 kB/s DL)

what am i doing wrong

ps:

uTorrent 1.7.5

Siemens Gigaset SE515 dsl router/modem

winXP+SP2

T-Com Croatia ISP

port forwarding enabled, protocol encryption enabled, uTorrent added to Win firewall exceptions

everything tested on 3 upload limits (15 kB/s, 20kB/s, 25kB7s)

Enable UPnP port mapping - on/off same thing

Enable NAT-PMP port mapping - on/off same thing

keep connection max really low - couldnt find that setting

DHT - on/off same thing

still getting crappy download when trying to raise upload

anything else I could try?

yep... as i said i did everything - the speed guide, setup guide and Ultima Speed issues guide

and i mean everything...

so lets follow the Ultima Speed issues guide:

INFORMATION WE MIGHT NEED IF NOTHING ELSE HELPS:

1. EVERYTHING you've tried so far, including ANYTHING listed above - as I said, I have tried everything from the above

2. What the port checker from the Speed Guide writes:

"OK! Port 29212 is open and accepting connections.

You will be able to receive incoming BitTorrent connections."

3. What the Speed Guide shows your settings to be (press Ctrl+G in µTorrent)

Connection type: xx/256 xx/192

Upload Limit 22kB/s 17kB/s

Upload Slots 3 3

Connections 70 55

Connections Global 130 90

max active torrents 2 2 (i have changed it, since no point in having no upload)

max active downloads 1 1

tried with both settings, no luck...

4. What you have net.max_halfopen set to (Preferences > Advanced in µTorrent)

net.max_halfopen 8

5. Operating system installed

Windows XP + SP2

6. Security software installed

Avast AV, winXP SP2 firewall

7. Exact router model

Siemens gigaset SE515 dsl

8. ISP (Internet Service Provider) being used

T-Com Croatia

9. Connection type (DSL, cable, dial-up), and the results obtained from the speed test

DSL, 2016kbps/256kbps

www.speedtest.net shows my speeds are 1715kbps/220kbps (median)

thats about it

Did Resolve IPs disabled do anything?

Try these settings:

Upload Limit 15kB/s

Alternate Upload Limit: 22kB/s

Upload Slots 3

Connections 40

Connections Global 60

max active torrents 2

max active downloads 1

Your modem in half duplex mode? (That's where it can only send OR receive at any given moment...and means higher upload = lower download.)

Resolve IPs does nothing

those settings work fine, the problem is above 15kB/s

my modem supports full duplex depending on my network adapter, and my network adapter is on full duplex

still, thanx for your help, ill try to figure out something, and if i dont succeed, ill upload at 15kB/s... and every 2 days halt my download and unlimit upload
