Is it hopeless at 24 Mbit?

I just got an ADSL 24 MBit in my new house, after having had a 10Mbit LAN connection in my old apartment... of course I have been using uTorrent :) I was getting speeds of up to 1,0 Mbyte for my downloads in the old apartment, but now with the new connection I have only once come up to those speeds, and one sweet moment when it went to 1,5 ! but generally I am limited to about 0,8 Mbytes...

I have a new rounter with the ADSL, and have successfully created a static IP address, and forwarded the port correctly... I have switched from Windows Firewall to ZoneAlarm, and have set ZoneAlarm per Ultimas instructions...

I am using XP SP2... and uTorrent 1.7.5... I have set the upload limit to 1Mbit (this is my speed on the ADSL) and have tweaked a few settings as instructed on these forums (DHT off, UPnP port mapping disabled, net.max_halfopen 4)...

any suggestions? IS it just that I am ulucky enough to have slower peers (800kBytes is fast I know but still)... I have this great connection, I want to use it to its full capacity...

I have tested the speed, and it is 15 Mbits+ (not actually 24, but higher than the 8MBit they offer for $8 less a month)...

Ehm... What is your connection's max upload rate, and when you say you limit your upload rate to 1Mbit, do you mean you selected xx/1Mbit in the Speed Guide?

Additionally, we tend not to recommend ZA around here, as it's known to be very problematic for a LOT of people :\

my max upload is 1MBit... I think I may have found a solution, it had to do with using public trackers from Pirate Bay and Mininova... when I select a LOT of torrents, then I can get the speed up to 1,7-1,8 MBytes...

Any ideas why I get such lousy speed with a 24mBit ADSL? Is it just that none of the seeders can upload faster than they are. or is just that they don't because my upload is so slow (60kB)? Most of the time it is around 300k and with certain torrents up to 800k ut no where near the capacity that my line has...
