micuant Posted October 27, 2007 Report Posted October 27, 2007 I encountered a strange error today...( it seems to be an error at least to me )the version i'm using now for several months is 1.7.5. everything works fine no probs so far. until today.today i dl'ed some pdf's (ebooks).so, what usually happens is: after the download finishes, the dl'ed file is moved away from the "data/incoming" directory to the "data/finished" directory. that's the way i set up my directories. when a dl is completed it is moved to the "finished" directory. that's just a convenient way to seperate completed dl from dls which are still active. simple.but as i said...today, some pdfs - not all pdfs - just disappeared after the dl was complete! i can't locate them anymore! neither in the "data/incoming" directory nor in the "data/finished" directory. there are just gone. furthermore there is no error icon in the utorrent gui indicating that something went wrong. if you look at the client everything seems to be fine.but if you look closer under General->General/Save as... then all of these weird pdfs have been saved as "data/incoming" (just the location of the folder, no filenames at all) whereas all the other dls, which are actually ok, have been saved as "data/incoming/XYZ.pdf" i.e. with the correct file name.any ideas what that might be?thx
micuant Posted October 27, 2007 Author Report Posted October 27, 2007 i think i understand what happens.... but not why. let's see...first, i was a bit wrong about the folders. here you see their correct naming:it's"downloads/incoming/data"and"downloads/finished/data"again i dl'ed a bunch of ebooks. this time there was an error. maybe i overlooked it the last time, but i'am not sure about this.anyway, here is the error msg: in english is just says: "the system is unable to locate the specified file"and that's correct. it's because the files are not moved from"downloads/incoming/data" to "downloads/finished/data" as it should be but to "downloads/finished/data/data"now what the heck??? why should there be another "data" subdirectory.that's weird...i just checked on of the other files.see the snapshot. it says torrent ok and the dl'ed file is saved as "downloads/incoming/data":if i press enter on the torrent: the explorer window opens in "downloads/incoming/data" but of course the supposed file is not there.instead, as i said, it's again in "downloads/finished/data/data"so, at least i now know where to look for these funny torrents. but i still want to know what's going on.
