seemingly unsolvable NAT problem

i have a netgear wgr614v7 with the latest firmware. i forwarded my static ip to the port i am using for utorrent (56850), however, the utorrent port checking feature just displays

"Error! Port 56850 does not appear to be open."

this is from my router's manager

# Service Name Start Port End Port Server IP Address

1 Utorrent 56850 56850 192.168.1.51

my utorrent 1.7.5 displays a red question mark and gets a download speed of 10kb/s.

it only connects to about fifteen peers & seeds even in the openoffice torrent.

i have struggled with it for more than ten hours now.. please help.

oh! and upnp doesn't work for some reason..

Your modem may also contain a mini-router and/or firewall that needs to be disabled or configured.

You may have antivirus software that also contains a (hidden?) firewall that needs to be disabled or configured.

Some viruses, trojans, and even adware/spyware can act like firewalls...because they route some traffic through them but do it incorrectly.

Any or all of those may be your problem. :(

I liken being firewalled and not wanting it to having a "Welcome!" mat in front of your locked door to your keep inside your castle wall, with the drawbridge up, a moat full of alligators, and barbed wire in front of that...and lastly surrounded by a minefield.

Sometimes it's just not enough to unlock your door.
