crazyo Posted November 1, 2007 Report Posted November 1, 2007 Ok, so my download speeds are being throttled, so I am forwarding ports. I use Windows XP and have Verizon Fios. Interestingly enough, Verizon isn't on the throttle list. I used to get around 400kbps and now I max at 30kbps and average <10kbps. Go figure!I have:-set a static IP-forwarded a port TCP and UDP protocols-opened the port via Norton security, TCP and UDP protocols-I have UPnP and NAT-PMP Port mapping disabled, and choose a random port disabled.Yet, the urtorrent tester tells me that the port is not open. Is there anything I'm missing? Or should I go into more detail of the above because I may have done something wrong? If you can help me, I'd appreciate it, and if you need any other info I can provide it.
Ultima Posted November 2, 2007 Report Posted November 2, 2007 http://www.slackware.com/torrents/How does a torrent from here run? What modem are you using?
crazyo Posted November 2, 2007 Author Report Posted November 2, 2007 I don't know what modem I have, I only see the router. That torrent is getting up to about 30kbps and averaging out, better than the normal torrents I download, but on torrents with way less seeders I used to get into the 400kbps range.By the way, it says my port isn't open. I've forwarded on my router, I've set a static IP and I've allowed it through my fire wall. I still get: Error! Port ***** does not appear to be open.
Ultima Posted November 5, 2007 Report Posted November 5, 2007 So er... what router? Also, I remember some other FIOS users having trouble forwarding their ports... this thread being one example. I'm not sure what the problem is, but if you have an ONT like mentioned in that thread, are you able to connect your computer directly to it and get a connection?
