Rickynet Posted November 3, 2007 Author Report Posted November 3, 2007 don't work, i tried copy to another folder
hermanm Posted November 4, 2007 Report Posted November 4, 2007 http://utorrent.33host.com/html/AppendixB_04.html/RECOVER will allow you to open up a second instance of µTorrent instead of its normal behavior where it simply activates the currently-running instance. In order to prevent possible problems, it is recommended that you create an encapsulated copy of µTorrent before opening it as a second instance, then create a shortcut for the encapsulated copy of the executable with the /RECOVER option. Remember that two applications cannot listen on the same port, so if you intend on having the second instance actually be a properly-working instance, you should set the second instance to listen on a different port, and forward that port as well.http://utorrent.33host.com/html/AppendixB_01.html#Encapsulated_InstallationEncapsulated "Installation"While %AppData%\uTorrent is the default directory for storing the settings, µTorrent actually searches the directory that the executable file is located in first before looking in %AppData%\uTorrent. As such, as long as the directory that the executable is located in contains a settings.dat file, µTorrent will look no further, and use only files located in its current directory instead. With this behavior, it is possible to create encapsulated µTorrent "installations" for use on portable flash drives, or just to have an isolated copy for any other reason.
wizard Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 I tried to create an encapsulated version of utorrent, as above, and located all directories on the thumb drive. I also created a shortcut to the new version on that drive. I can run the new version without a problem, but if I try to run the old version, it displays the same torrents as the new version. If I try to add a new torrent using the older version of utorrent, it will pick up the torrent file from the old directory instead of the new one, but tempory and permanent files are all stored on the thumb drive. I did change the port for the new instance of utorrent. I do not understand the usage of /recover. It was not mentioned in the creation instructions, and I have not previously seen any such command. In any case, I currently can run either instance, with problems as above, but not both at same time.
