On top of that, you need to make sure that you're saving to a folder that does not require admin rights (don't use Program Files, for example).

It saves in the default folder "Downloads" and that (Nero and Windows) Indexing Services ARE NOT active. On top of that I mentioned (I think) that I was already downloading before Nero and after its intallation, 2 days. So, why this sudden change? I will uninstall Nero and try again but dunno about that. Since the downloaded files are ISO images and I installed Daemon Tools Lite right about when it stopped I think maybe thats the problem? .iso files associated with Daeomon Tools?

But I must be able to resume my existing download (19 hours of downloading going to waste otherwise!).

Ive got the annoying 'Torrent Error. Access Is Denied' Please Help

I only get it on certain zipped archives, where it is assumed that there are keygens in them. All other torrents and all other files in torrents work.

When I used to have Mcafee, it would be a mcafee error that showed the error as reporting a trojan, displayed AFTER the file was downloaded. Then I removed Mcafee, installed Comodo and then I began getting the error as soon as I start the torrent (this is when it started to display as a "Torrent Error"). Then I tried uninstalling comodo and tried system restoring before comodo was installed but after mcafee was uninstalled, yet I still got the error. In utorrent the error logger shows it as 'Error file cannot be opened'.

Now I've turned off drive indexing for all drives (including C), despite the fact that the torrents im downloading to were always on a non-os drive. I've now disabled real time scanning on windows defender.

How do I stop this?

In preferences there is a setting to say where the .torrent file is stored. Make sure you put the torrent file in that location before adding it to uTorrent. This worked for me and resolved the Access is denied message. I'm guessing it was trying to read the torrent, and move it to the designated folder at the same time, which would cause an error.

I also had the same problem and found this forum with google. I've recently switched from Windows XP to Windows 7 (RC).

None of the solutions I tried (posted here) worked, but I just ran the program as Administrator and it seems to work. All files where checked and it continued to download from where it left of in XP.

Where are you saving. Certainly protected areas require Administrator, like during the install phase where the files are created in %APPDATA% . .

The entire point of de-elevating users is so that they get used to running normal UNLESS they're installing things. Did you change Directories settings in the previous uT instance when you upgraded? RC isn't out yet. MSDN only got it today.

Hey guys, i see many people are having this problem, and i have found one possible solution which has proven to work. For those of you who have itunes installed then you also have another program which comes with itunes call BONJOUR installed which interfers with torrent clients.

I think ive found the solution

Im on vista ultimate freshly installed with nothing but utorrent on it.

i was having same problem tried everything already in this post and none of it worked.

So simple all u gotta do start task manager and set priority for utorrent to high but u gotta run task manager as administrator just go to start in search type in taskmgr.exe right click run as administrator find utorrent.exe in processes right click it set priority to high and thats it. I actually set mine to realtime dont think its much difference it did work in high but i wanted it on realtime.
