Myros
Hey guys.Using µTorrent 1.7.5.Windows XP SP2, 32P IV, 768MB DDR RAM, 2.4ghzAllowing 50 maximum concurrent half-open connections.I've had this problem for quite some time. But since I've been getting great speeds lately (115 kb/s is my max), I couldn't simply ignore this problem. The task would be running at max speed /or/ 100kb/s, and my free ram would drastically drop!I've noticed that this involves µTorrent, when the task is stopped or paused, my free ram would rise back to 520-540.Any solutions?? Firon
It's the Windows system cache eating your RAM.
Myros
Any way to prevent/avoid it ???
skribb
I'm having the exact same problem. Although for me, it occurs at significantly higher speeds (starting at about 500kbps, I'd say). Memory usage goes way up to 800-900MB, until the torrent is completed, wherein the RAM drops a few hundred megs (although not fully to default "idling" values). So Firon, you're saying it's a fault in Windows' cache. How do I fix it? Would altering the pagefile size help at all? Or is it an innate feature of the Windows OS that cannot be fixed? jewelisheaven
There are testing builds which avoid the feature in the 1.8 line. Insane settings under Ctrl-P -> Advanced -> Disk Cache have been known to cause problems also.
Firon
No, the currently released 1.8 builds do not have this function.
