Hi, i tried to post on the previous topic but it wouldn't let me. It said that double posts are not allowed so i opened a new topic. It's about the same error. I get a bluescreen after downloading with utorrent. I get it on two laptops, the weird thing is that when i was downloading with utorrent on my deskptop it went just fine. So i get the following error screen :

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any windows updates you might need

If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as Caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select advanced start-up options, and then select safe mode.

Hi there ... hopefully uTorrent will talk a look at this, as there definitely seems to be a bug in v1.7.5 ... at least with x64 systems.

For about a week now I've been attempting to diagnose my pc. I've been plagued with seemingly random system crashes resulting in BSOD. The most common System Error reported has been 0xC5: DRIVER_CORRUPTED_EXPOOL

Error Information: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms796183.aspx

------------------------------------------------------------------

System Information:

OS: MS Windows XP Pro x64 SP2

CPU: AMD Athlon Dual-Core 4200+

No Anti-Virus/Firewall Installed

------------------------------------------------------------------

I've used WinDBG to diagnose the minidump created by Windows.

This is a bit lengthy, but definitely reports that uTorrent could be the culprit to these crashes.

DRIVER_CORRUPTED_EXPOOL (c5)
An attempt was made to access a pageable (or completely invalid) address at an
interrupt request level (IRQL) that is too high. This is
caused by drivers that have corrupted the system pool. Run the driver

the culprit, then use gflags to enable special pool.

Judging from this report, the problem is triggered by uTorrent. The IRQ which is the 2nd parameter, (0000000000000002), signifies that it is coming from the Secondary IRQ controller, and I'm guessing it's coming from the Network Adapter. I will run Driver Verifier on NDIS.sys, and report back with my results.

i have been getting a bsod for quite some time too

the error reported was this :

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

i didn't write down the other details in the bsod

but i know that the error comes from utorrent

because when i closed it and used the pc normally , the bsod didn't occur unless i started it again

this is really frustraiting .

i tried re-installing the network drivers but the problem still occurs

any help?

Xp Sp2 Pro 32-bit

================

EDIT:

i noticed something here when i just changed my modem to "speedtouch 330 usb"

the problem is gone ... very weird

the modem i was using before was a linksys wag45 or something , obviously connected to the ethernet adapter in my pc ... while the Speedtouch is connected to the usb port

maybe its the modem (linksys) causing the trouble , because i can assure you that the network card on my pc is updated with the latest drivers and whatnot.

now i just need to confirm that the problem is limited to the linksys modem because i'm planning to buy a new one soon :)

I have been plagued with BSOD's for the last 15 day on three !!! different PC's.

I get BAD_POOL_CALLER and PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA on all PC's. It happens with both ver 1.6.1 or 1.7.5. I am more that confused since i have running utorrent for ages without a single glitch and then suddenly it start to happen on all my PC's both in

my office and at home.

All machines (two different DELL's and one custom) runs XP SP2 all with their latest updates installed. Three different models of ADSL routers are in use so it cant be them.

I have also tried to exclude utorrent.exe from NOD32 and even tried with NOD32 deactivated to no avail. The strange thing is that these problem started more or less within a day or two. I suspect that WinXP must have made an update that dont go well with utorrent. I cant find any other explanation really.

Three other friends are all having the exactly same problem on similar machines and during the same time period.

We have been rubbing our heads for days now trying to limit speed (4-8 mbit lines), connections, torrents you name it but nothing helps.

Utorrent have always been setting the standard with no real alternative so im more than sad to start looking for an alternative if a fix is not eminent.

Hi,

I have the same problem with uTorrent and Vista x64. After use uTorrent for large files, the ndis.sys error and BSOD appears.

I've tried all versions of uTorrent that I found on Internet, and now I'm trying the last Alpha versions, looking for the fix of this issue.

My system is:

Windows Vista Ultimate x64 (Original, unpatched with all updates)

AMD Turion X2 x64 2.0 Ghz

RAM 2 Gb

HD SATA 160 Gb

Video GeForce Go 7600

Board nVidia nForce 410/430

nVidia LAN Controller

WLAN Broadcom

All devices have the latest drivers available for Windows Vista x64, with WHQL.

When I use the computer with uTorrent running, the total time with no BSOD is max one day.

When I use the computer without uTorrent running, the total time is undefined, without BSOD.

Searching on Google many people has the same ndis.sys crash problem when uTorrent is running, and maybe other P2P app.

Is the problem identified? Is in the fix list for future versions?

Any comments will be apreciate it.

Cheers.

CARLOS V.

Well I've finally seemed to fix the problem. For me, the problem was my tcpip.sys. The person who hexed in the new "Half Connection" value did it wrong.

First I installed the newest copy of uTorrent.

For Windows x64 users, I recommend running a Windows Update via IExplorer.

The recent release of MS KB941644 will overwrite your tcpip.sys.

So after your updates finish installing, and reboot, head over to:

http://www.planetamd64.com/index.php?s=05e01213219410d594528966f4d91683&showtopic=31013&view=findpost&p=327058

Someone was generous enough to package new tcpip.sys files with your choice of 50, 100, 200, 300, 1000. Just reboot into safemode (without networking) and replace Microsoft's tcpip.sys with one of these.

Located in: C:\Windows\System32\drivers\

Reboot normally. This has seemed to fix these blue screen errors as my comp has been running uTorrent perfectly, while watching movies, winamp, downloading ... no blue screen as of yet. Before uTorrent would only last a few hrs before a BSOD.

So, hope this helps someone! :)

EDIT/UPDATE: THE ABOVE DID NOT FIX MY PROBLEM ... SEE MY NEXT MESSAGE FOR THE SOLUTION.

Well it turns out that updating tcpip.sys wasn't the culprit of this problem. The nVidia Ethernet drivers posted on my motherboard's (GIGABYTE) site were outdated and buggy. So guys ... head over to nVidia's site and download the most recent versions. I haven't had one BSOD yet in 3 days.

FINALLY !!!!
