smokarz Posted November 20, 2007 Report Posted November 20, 2007 Hi All,I have DSL, my comp is connected directly to the modem. I have Zone Alarm v7 (Free) and my speed is very slow. When i try to test port forwarding from the Speed Guide tab, i got an error which said port is not opened. I don't understand as I am not using a router, I don't need to forward port right? Could this be caused my Zone Alarm?I truly appreciate any help from you all. Thanks
The_Nephilim Posted November 20, 2007 Report Posted November 20, 2007 Hi, Most of the DSL Modems turn out to be Combo Units. Read this guide to determine if you have a Combo Unit:http://forum.portforward.com/YaBB.cgi?board=Knowledge;action=display;num=1139203841Nephilim
smokarz Posted November 20, 2007 Author Report Posted November 20, 2007 so it looked like i have a combo unit..i have the speedstream 4100 and reading the post from portforward i am trying to access the router using ip 10.0.0.138 which does not look like a valid address...what address should i use?
The_Nephilim Posted November 21, 2007 Report Posted November 21, 2007 Hi, Read this Guide for that Modem/Router this is for the 5100 but should be close:http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Efficient-Siemens/Speedstream-5100/Speedstream-5100index.htmAlso when you setup a Static IP make sure it is Outside the Range of the DHCP Read this Guide on that:http://forum.portforward.com/YaBB.cgi?board=Knowledge;action=display;num=1116577357The_Nephilim
silverstars1983 Posted November 23, 2007 Report Posted November 23, 2007 it could definetly be caused by zone alarm (uninstall it)you said 4100 right?linkhttp://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Siemens/4100/Utorrent.htmthis is really the best (free of charge) site, so if the problem is the port, here should be your answergood luck
smokarz Posted November 23, 2007 Author Report Posted November 23, 2007 apparently, the 4100 modem i got from AT&T DSL is not the same as the 4100 guide so i could not forwards port through the modem. i am having the believe that ZoneAlarm might be behind all this.
erlee Posted November 24, 2007 Report Posted November 24, 2007 Just WONDERING... i ran the port open test on 53686.. why is it that the test came back negative - as in the port is CLOSED. How come utorrent is still able to work & download torrents? i have been using it like that for a couple of months now.any comments appreciated.
