ajones81 Posted November 20, 2007 Report Posted November 20, 2007 I don't know if NAV 2006 contains a firewall, but if it does, you might want to check whether uTorrent is listed in the exceptions.
servetaboy Posted November 20, 2007 Author Report Posted November 20, 2007 yes its allowed in the norton firewall
ajones81 Posted November 20, 2007 Report Posted November 20, 2007 Can you delete and recreate the rule for uTorrent and check? If nothing works, you might want to temporarily uninstall NAV to see if that was the cause of your problems (simply disabling it might not really help).
servetaboy Posted November 21, 2007 Author Report Posted November 21, 2007 no nothing works no download activity since yesterday im beginning to think torrent is a white elephant. from what im reading in these posts and threads no body seems to be able to get it to work and no offence to ajones81 but the moderators are very condesending,we not all are comp literate they way they THINK they are there is a lot of arrogance in their answers i even read one were he calls the questioner a peabrain this attitude does not help in any way or form i bet they jump on this post though as i have attempted to pour scorn on their superior intelect [ ha]
DreadWingKnight Posted November 21, 2007 Report Posted November 21, 2007 Who is your internet provider?
servetaboy Posted November 21, 2007 Author Report Posted November 21, 2007 clear wire broadband wireless connection would you beleive i finally got it workin after nearly a week and a half now i need to see if i can actually download something but i still think most people would have given up at this stage im just stubborn =d
Ultima Posted November 21, 2007 Report Posted November 21, 2007 Clearwire is known to throttle BitTorrent (you'll find other reports in the forum).
ajones81 Posted November 21, 2007 Report Posted November 21, 2007 @servetaboy: No offence, but did you see that pea brain crack here (http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?pid=186331#p186331)? If so, a careful perusal will make it amply clear that it was a case of one Member (spin), calling another Member (trinop) names. No Admin or Moderator doing the name-calling as far as I could make out. BTW, I too am only a normal Member like you, and the only time I've seen the Admins or Moderators exasperated and sharp-tongued is when people give them sufficient reason to be so, and never without any good rhyme or reason. Anyway, it's a thankless (and non-paying AFAIK) job so would/could you do it day in and day out with the same degree of calmness? Nothing excuses outright bad manners of course, but I've yet to see it being displayed by the powers that be.Coming back to your problem, if it is indeed a case of your ISP being hostile to BitTorrent as Ultima said, then you're out of luck, sorry.
Ultima Posted November 21, 2007 Report Posted November 21, 2007 He's almost definitely referring to this post, which (obviously) wasn't a case of namecalling if anyone took even a second to look at context.
ajones81 Posted November 21, 2007 Report Posted November 21, 2007 Heh. No wonder I didn't find it using Search! Anyway, I guess anyone who names himself peabrane had that coming, eh? @servetaboy: Satisfied?
servetaboy Posted November 25, 2007 Author Report Posted November 25, 2007 its a self infilicted job - in my job i see stuff that could cause death in the most extreme and i mean extreme but i diont call people names i explain to them that this is what you need to do it might cost money to do it but its cheaper than dying but to get to the point it nice to be polite no matter what or who your are facing i am not coputer literate but i can use ione if its explained in a way i can understand computer speak is for people who understand it moderator or not people will only learn if they are interestyed enough to learn and you have to make it interestin not gobbledegook and yes i am satisfied
