cannon64 Posted November 23, 2007 Report Posted November 23, 2007 I'm not connecting to anything when i download torrents. I try downloading torrents from Dattebayo, i see the seeds and peers in uTorrent, but they are not connecting at all. When i look at the status of the is "Connection closed by peers". And I've tried other torrents from other sites and get the same problem. I even tried getting the openoffice.org torrent, and that doesn't work at all, no peers, no nothing. The tracker status that i get from that is "No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it." I have also tried changing the BitTorrent options. Like forcing the protocol encryption, allowing the incoming legacy connections. Also changing some of the other options under the same section. Nothing is working for me. I have been at a loss on this for months now. If anyone can help me, please. Thanks to everyone in advance.
cannon64 Posted November 23, 2007 Author Report Posted November 23, 2007 Yea, I have a firewall, I'm using Kerio Personal Firewall. Before that I was using Norton Internet Security. I just installed the Kerio and I am still getting the same problem.
Firon Posted November 23, 2007 Report Posted November 23, 2007 You almost certainly didn't add the proper rules to the firewall to allow µTorrent access.
cannon64 Posted November 23, 2007 Author Report Posted November 23, 2007 One thing I forgot to mention is that my brother on his laptop, he can download the torrents that he had already going. But when we tried to see if he could download other torrents, they wouldn't start at all, he gets what I'm getting, the Connection closed by peers. He is also using the same firewall and is also using uTorrent.
Firon Posted November 23, 2007 Report Posted November 23, 2007 See if uninstalling the firewall makes a difference. If it does, it means you didn't configure it properly.
cannon64 Posted November 23, 2007 Author Report Posted November 23, 2007 Well, when I was in the transition of going between the Norton firewall and the Kerio firewall, I was testing out the windows firewall to see if that was the problem and it gave me the same problem which I'm having right now.
Glad Posted November 23, 2007 Report Posted November 23, 2007 Same problem. Vista. No Firewall. uTorrent 1.8.6415. It worked properly before...
ajones81 Posted November 24, 2007 Report Posted November 24, 2007 Any hardware firewall present? Ports forwarded properly (Ctrl+G)? Network status icon - red/yellow/green? ISP?
cannon64 Posted January 30, 2008 Author Report Posted January 30, 2008 Finally got Utorrent to work. We just upgraded to our internet providers business connection so we could get our home server to work online so we can have our family connect to it from other places. And I checked to see if Utorrent would work, and now it does.
