Tallokas Posted November 28, 2007 Report Posted November 28, 2007 I've used uTorrent for ages and have always been very impressed with it. Today for some reason it all went wonky. I clicked on the torrent file to download and then clicked "open" and nothing happened. Then I tried clicking on "save" and again nothing happened.I was using version 1.6 so I uninstalled and downloaded the new version 1.7.5. Now when I open uTorrent it just sits in the tray. Left click and nothing, right click and nothing. I try to download a torrent and nothing happens. It just seems to be locked in the tray and won't do anything.I really don't want to use another program and would appreciate it if someone could help me.Thanks.
Ultima Posted November 29, 2007 Report Posted November 29, 2007 Start > Run > %appdata%\uTorrentTry renaming settings.dat to settings.dat_, and removing settings.dat.old. This will reset all settings (meaning you'll have to reconfigure), but if it fixes the issue... upload the settings.dat_ file to zshare.net and post a link here.If it doesn't help, get/run HijackThis and post a log here.
Tallokas Posted November 29, 2007 Author Report Posted November 29, 2007 I tried something a couple of days ago and it worked. I first uninstalled and then did a search for utorrent (hidden folders and all) and deleted. I redowndoaded and installed and it works perfectly.I'll save your reply in case there's a "next time."Thanks for your help.
ajones81 Posted November 29, 2007 Report Posted November 29, 2007 What you did and what Ultima said basically amount to the same thing. Once you remove/rename settings.dat, uTorrent believes it's been freshly installed and acts accordingly. However, if you face that problem again, do upload your settings file and link to it before deleting it (as Ultima said) so that the developers can have a look at it and fix bugs if required.
Tallokas Posted November 29, 2007 Author Report Posted November 29, 2007 Will do. Thanks for the help
