jasonr Posted December 1, 2007 Report Posted December 1, 2007 Greetings,I'm trying to get uTorrent up and running. Hopefully, someone can help me out. I've got my IP address fixed to 192.168.1.136 and can connect to the internet with no problems. When I run the test to see if the port is open, my IP address is shown as 69.131.X.XXX, and the port is shown as not open, obviously. What am I doing wrong here? Thanks,Jason
Ultima Posted December 1, 2007 Report Posted December 1, 2007 Ignore the IP address that the port checker shows. What router and/or modem are you using? Have you set a static IP up for your computer outside of your router's DHCP range?
jasonr Posted December 2, 2007 Author Report Posted December 2, 2007 Router is a Linksys WRT54G. Modem is an Actiontec DSL Gateway.A static IP is setup (192.168.1.136), but it is within the DHCP range per the router setup screen. Does it need to be outside the range of DHCP?Jason
DreadWingKnight Posted December 2, 2007 Report Posted December 2, 2007 yes it does need to be outside.Linksys routers require it.
jasonr Posted December 2, 2007 Author Report Posted December 2, 2007 Moved it outside the DHCP (192.168.1.151) and still nothing.
Ultima Posted December 3, 2007 Report Posted December 3, 2007 Your Actiontec is most likely a router as well, in which case you're double-NAT'd. Read the advanced port forwarding guide in the second link in my signature.
