karol2d Posted December 5, 2007 Report Posted December 5, 2007 Hi! I come from Poland and I want to say that Utorrent is great application ^^ But I have got a problem about it. I bought new computer, and when I installed Utorrent my PC started to barf/hung. It hapens only when Utorent is running for longer than 15 minutes ^^' Then I must push the "Reset" button, because ctr+alt+delete doesn't work. After that I can see in log ivents error caused by NetBT. What should I do?(And sorry about the language.)My PC:Intel® Pentium® Dual CPU E2140 @ 1.60GHzGigabyte GeForce7300 Gt PX 256 MB DVI/TV BOXAsus P5K SE DDR2GoodRam DDR2 1GB PC800HDD SAMSUNG SATA100 320 GB 16 MB CACHE
Ultima Posted December 5, 2007 Report Posted December 5, 2007 In µTorrent, go to Preferences > BitTorrentTry unchecking "Enable DHT".In Preferences > Advanced, try setting net.max_halfopen to 4.
karol2d Posted December 7, 2007 Author Report Posted December 7, 2007 No, it doesn't work :| PC still hungs :|
Switeck Posted December 7, 2007 Report Posted December 7, 2007 Any chance your computer is simply overheating (in whole are in part)? If it's a software problem, you can try HijackThis! and do research on what it finds. You may have more than 1 nasty on your computer, so don't expect things will get better just because you fixed one problem....some of the worst 'nasties' nowadays are commercial software.
jewelisheaven Posted December 7, 2007 Report Posted December 7, 2007 Check the FAQ for incompatible software. Are you running any of those / types of software?
karol2d Posted December 7, 2007 Author Report Posted December 7, 2007 Overheating - I'm sure, it is not. I've checked temperatures in Everest and in BIOS. And like I said - It happens only when utorrent is turned on ^^.Spywere? Viruses? HijackThis? No - it was checked milions of times.I haven't got any incompatible software on my PC. I installed utorrent on clean PC and it hung/barfed too.
Switeck Posted December 8, 2007 Report Posted December 8, 2007 Loose connection somewhere (like a poorly seated card or ide cable) or dying hard drive or ram most likely then.
karol2d Posted December 8, 2007 Author Report Posted December 8, 2007 I've got wireless internet connection. Can it be caused because of loss connection? My card is: 802.11b WLAN PCI - is it good or not, cause I've got no idea.
jewelisheaven Posted December 8, 2007 Report Posted December 8, 2007 Hmm, well OS version, uT version, and a HijackThis log would be helpful... we should be able to get it to stop 'barfing'

jewelisheaven Posted December 9, 2007 Report Posted December 9, 2007 The only thing I don't recognize there is XPNetDiag... Strange since it's from Microsoft, no?Also i at barf because you know in english it's usually used when someone gets sick and vomits up their recent lunch or dinner. Therefore it's a messy thing, and at the time I was picturing a cartoonish PC case with a mouth vomiting up all the cards inside... I dunno, it just made me smile, and isn't smiling a good thing.
ajones81 Posted December 9, 2007 Report Posted December 9, 2007 What're your download/upload speeds and uTorrent connection settings like? Have you patched Tcpip.sys?
karol2d Posted December 10, 2007 Author Report Posted December 10, 2007 If you mean patch called EvID4226Patch.exe, then yes ^^. Upload download speed? I don't know ^^' Wireless internet connection is very unpredictable ^^" Some times I've got better speed, but some times it is bad So I don't know what should I use in my configuration setup ^^
jewelisheaven Posted December 10, 2007 Report Posted December 10, 2007 At a maximum bittorent data transfer is recommended to reach only ~ 80% of your maximum rated line speed. (meaning what your ISP says, "you have 1.5 Mbit down). This is accomplished through Ctrl-G Speed Guide by default, but you should also take that into account when manually setting any speed settings.
