Glirk Dient Posted December 9, 2007 Report Posted December 9, 2007 I finally gave up and plugged my ethernet cord into the wall instead of the router to see if I could get the port to open. No dice. I even turned off the only firewall that was on(windows) and it still won't open according to utorrent. What else should I try? My ISP is Avid(satellite unfortunately) and I am using windows XP. I followed the sticky and did everything in that except repatch TCP/IP and disabling IP resolve as I couldn't find that. My router is the dreaded WRTG54 but since I plugged my computer into the wall I don't think that will matter for now. Speed test reports 486 kb/s down and 205 kb/s up. I hate satellite.
jewelisheaven Posted December 9, 2007 Report Posted December 9, 2007 somewhere I read that satellite is hopelessly firewalled.... Then again I don't know where it is so there may be hope.Yea with you connecting directly, and still no dice you may have to rely on others letting you into them :/
Firon Posted December 9, 2007 Report Posted December 9, 2007 You generally cannot port forward on satellite connections, as they don't give you real IPs.
