katien44 Posted December 9, 2007 Report Posted December 9, 2007 I have 12G download time I cant use as it starts at 1.00A.M. is there any way to time my torrent downloads to start at or after 1.00 A.M ...thankyou ...Katie
Switeck Posted December 9, 2007 Report Posted December 9, 2007 Yes, Scheduler! You have to make sure DHT is disabled either all the time or disabled when Scheduler is in "turn off" don't download/upload mode...or there will be more unwanted traffic on your line.Experiment with it some and read the FAQs about it.
katien44 Posted December 9, 2007 Author Report Posted December 9, 2007 so sorry can you put that in "for dummies" mode as I dont have a clue what a DHT is or where to find FAQ on the subject, I am 63 so maybe thats my excuse...thankyou katie
jewelisheaven Posted December 9, 2007 Report Posted December 9, 2007 OK. Uhm. in uT, Ctrl-P -> BitTorrent . You can find DHT options there.Regarding Scheduler, you should see it lower down. Tick the box up-top. Dark green means "full" download/upload. Click once for light green "limited" mode with separate upload/download caps. Click once more to make white, which means "during this hour turn off all non-forced traffic". Holding Shift while click-dragging across the hour-grid means "seed-only" or upload only, no download. The box directly below the grid is where you can turn off DHT as well during OFF mode. (This is very helpful to Australians as they usually have a capped time for free download/upload.
katien44 Posted December 10, 2007 Author Report Posted December 10, 2007 Thankyou Jewell That Helps A Lot...katie
jewelisheaven Posted December 10, 2007 Report Posted December 10, 2007 Glad to help?Did it solve the problem though?I'm happy I don't have to deal with such draconian measures on my ISP but then again, if I did I'm glad most of the users on such ISPs readily know WHAT and WHEN they can download without impinging on such a quota/time schedule.
katien44 Posted December 11, 2007 Author Report Posted December 11, 2007 Hi Jewel,I tried everything you told me,it all seemed to go ok,but when I put it into action it still started to download on my daytime allowence,is there something else I can do as our broadband in Aust. sucks we are slugged big dollars for minimal service,i am getting 18 gigs but 12 of them are useless as I am suppose to use them from 1.00 am till 6.00am. please help if you can...cheers katie
Switeck Posted December 11, 2007 Report Posted December 11, 2007 Did you set up Scheduler for "turn off" for all hours outside of 1 to 6 am?
jewelisheaven Posted December 11, 2007 Report Posted December 11, 2007 Like Switeck the magnificent said above:Dark green = full usageLight green = limited usageWhite = offRed = seed-only (only upload)OK. Uhm. in uT, Ctrl-P -> BitTorrent . You can find DHT options there.Regarding Scheduler, you should see it lower down. Tick the box up-top. Dark green means "full" download/upload. (This is very helpful to Australians as they usually have a capped time for free download/upload.All of this presumes you do not use right-click "force start" for any torrents. As those completely bypass the Queue (Ctrl-P -> Queue).Have you checked out µManual in my signature? It's from a regularly generous mod here, and is user-contributed to include all relevant information for 1.7.2 (build 3458).. That holds true for 1.7.5 build 4602 as not much changed in the interim.
