ShellsOnTheFloor Posted December 11, 2007 Report Posted December 11, 2007 uTorrent hasn't been crashing or anything, but whenever I try to download ANY torrent (no matter how many seeds and peers) it simply won't download. It shows the number of peers and seeds, but it won't connect to any of them.uTorrent used to work just great for me, and I didn't change any settings or install any firewalls or things like that. It just suddenly went kaput. Other bittorrent clients only have mild success. Wyzo and Bittorrent don't work, but Azureus works (slowly). Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks!
jewelisheaven Posted December 11, 2007 Report Posted December 11, 2007 Your ISP hates p2p traffic.I await switeck to come in with super-mod knowledge to verify
Switeck Posted December 11, 2007 Report Posted December 11, 2007 Well...Charter ISP does throttle in places, but as for blocking -- I haven't heard so.http://forums.pfir.org/main/messages/714/741.html?1194829680"I live in Ft Worth, TX and have Charter Communications as my ISP. I have been an avid World of Warcraft player for a while and have noticed ever since I got Charter that the updates take an unusually long time, i.e. a 20MB file taking an hour to download on a rated as 10Mb/sec connection."http://yro.slashdot.org/yro/07/08/18/1138224.shtml"I've had Charter in Massachusetts for a couple years now, and BitTorrent has always been throttled. BitTorrent downloads take forever to download, if at all. I've tested this by connecting to the same trackers with the same client on my old work's Verizon 1.5Mb DSL (I'm running 6Mb Charter at home) and the downloads were exponentially faster on Verizon."http://www.azureuswiki.com/index.php/Bad_ISPsAccording to Azureus WIKI, Charter limits bandwidth for accounts with a high traffic volume. You want to know more, I'm not the guy to ask as I'm on ComCast.
