RosalieRMX Posted December 11, 2007 Report Posted December 11, 2007 When a network drive becomes unavailable, it would be nice if utorrent could:A)1) read from/write to cache untill the cache is full;2) write to a specified secondary location (when the cache is full);3) periodically retest and if applicable update and resume downloading to the network drive when it becomes available again.Or, if the utorrent developers reject A: pause a download, retest periodically and restart when the network drive becomes available again.Because several privacy and anti-hacker softwares aren't working yet on Vista (IPv6 issues) I've got a network setup to use an XP Home laptop ("laptop") as the download hub, writing data to the drive on a Vista desktop ("desktop.") Once in a while "desktop" may be temporarily unavailable. Often these losses of connection go unnoticed: temporary network instabilities that are resolved in the background, automated update reboots during the night, or I just forget that I was downloading something and don't restart the download on "laptop" after a (manual) reboot of "desktop." Whatever the reason, part of my torrent que is always in the red - either not seeding or downloading.I imagine there are lots of different reasons why someone might read to/write from a network drive, and it would be nice if utorrent would try a bit more patience to keep those torrents alive.
jewelisheaven Posted December 11, 2007 Report Posted December 11, 2007 Interesting idea. I"m not sure it's possible with current file handling.
