junerin Posted December 11, 2007 Report Posted December 11, 2007 If I already have peerguardian installed, do I still to to load the ipfilter.dat in utorrent? Or is peerguardian already doing the job?thanks
jewelisheaven Posted December 12, 2007 Report Posted December 12, 2007 Err, if you let it restrict who you can connect to then the answer is NO.
junerin Posted December 13, 2007 Author Report Posted December 13, 2007 Ok so I still need to load ipfilter.dat in utorrent together with peerguardian. So next question. Where can I get a suitable list? I downloaded the list from bluetack.co.uk but their list has names next to the IP. And I need to remove the names before I can load it into utorrentthanks
DreadWingKnight Posted December 13, 2007 Report Posted December 13, 2007 Make your own list based on hashfails.Any other list is just going to be made by an overparanoid tinfoil wearer.
jewelisheaven Posted December 13, 2007 Report Posted December 13, 2007 I make lists based upon peer connections and whois ARIN db
junerin Posted December 13, 2007 Author Report Posted December 13, 2007 just to clarify. how can you find out where the hash fail is coming from?and what do you mean by "I make lists based upon peer connections"? are there other characteristics I should look out for apart from hash fails?thanks again
Ultima Posted December 13, 2007 Report Posted December 13, 2007 No, and that's exactly why DWK is recommending that you create your own. Other lists use other criteria that would more likely cause µTorrent to block legitimate peers than anything. You find where hash fails are coming from by looking at the Logger tab and seeing which IPs are causing the hashfails.
jewelisheaven Posted December 14, 2007 Report Posted December 14, 2007 Actually the logger tab does not say who sends hashfails until it bans them. The correct place to see in-process hashfailers is the "Hasherr" column under Peers.Note: You can change the settings for auto-ban yourself using the bt.ban_ratio and bt.use_ban_ratio under Ctrl-P -> Advanced
