danielab87 Posted December 12, 2007 Report Posted December 12, 2007 Hi, I am experiencing painfully slow download speeds (usually between 0 and 1 kB/s), and I have that little thing at the bottom that says no incoming connections. In the speed guide when i click on test if port is forwarded properly, it tells me that my port does not appear to be open. I do not use a router or anything, I'm plugged directly into the wall at my apartment. Also, I have made sure that this port is listed in the exceptions in windows firewall and i have the box checked to add utorrent to windows firewall exceptions. how can I fix this problem? thanks
jewelisheaven Posted December 12, 2007 Report Posted December 12, 2007 Have you checked the Guides page on setting up your connection. Also http://distribution.openoffice.org/p2p/ is a good test for being able to get incoming connections. Also if you are unsure if any services / programs are interfering with internet connections, you can always post a HiJackThis log and see what any of the community members have to say. Usually speeds above 0, but below 1, it's peer communication (you telling them you have nothing / something, and them the reverse.. and you two agree on sending/receiving pieces). Is windows firewall the only firewall you are aware of using?
danielab87 Posted December 12, 2007 Author Report Posted December 12, 2007 i have looked at guides for setting it up, and they are all different, but i have followed several of them and still I get the little no incoming connections error. Windows firewall is the only firewall that i am using.
jewelisheaven Posted December 12, 2007 Report Posted December 12, 2007 OK and during downloading the openoffice torrent you didn't see any "I" flags in the Peer tab ?
danielab87 Posted December 12, 2007 Author Report Posted December 12, 2007 the openoffice torrent went faster, (between 10 and 25 kB/s for the brief amount of time that I had it going). There were no I flags in the peer tab that I saw, but I also don't see any for other things I am downloading. I just see the little ! in a yellow triangle at the bottom-middle of the window, and when I move the cursor over it, it says no incoming connections.
jewelisheaven Posted December 12, 2007 Report Posted December 12, 2007 K well if that's the case then you definitely should find a way to forward the port... Is it possible the modem is a combo router+modem ?
danielab87 Posted December 12, 2007 Author Report Posted December 12, 2007 like i said, i'm plugged directly into the wall, there are no routers or modems here. my internet is included in my rent, and all i have to do is plug right into the wall.
Switeck Posted December 12, 2007 Report Posted December 12, 2007 If µTorrent's UPnP doesn't work to auto-forward the hidden router you don't have access to...you're PERMANENTLY firewalled in µTorrent.
danielab87 Posted December 12, 2007 Author Report Posted December 12, 2007 so then is there nothing i can do here?
Switeck Posted December 12, 2007 Report Posted December 12, 2007 Besides trying various encryption and conservative settings in µTorrent, only changing ISPs might help.Have you tried Ultima's Troubleshooting Guide?:http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=15992...You probably won't get unfirewalled by it, but it still may improve your download+upload speeds.
