Ashigaru Posted December 12, 2007 Report Posted December 12, 2007 I had been downloading everything at good speeds and had the green light but now I am getting very slow speeds and I get "no incoming connections". I have UPnP enabled on both my router and modem so I haven't been able to figure out what the problem is.Obviously this had to happen the same day as the winter storm with half an inch of ice so now I'm stuck at home with nothing to do.
Switeck Posted December 13, 2007 Report Posted December 13, 2007 Do you know how to configure your computer to use a fixed (static) LAN ip but still get a dynamic (random) internet ip?Then you won't need UPnP in either the modem or router, after port forwarding and disabling firewall/s in the modem and router...and it should work all the time.
Ashigaru Posted December 13, 2007 Author Report Posted December 13, 2007 It worked fine until a few days ago though. My connection kept going off and on for a few hours on tuesday which is when we got all the ice around here and when it came back on and stayed on I got "no incoming connections". So I dont know if it was just a coincidence or if phone lines were damaged and my ISP is limiting traffic. Also everything looks like it should be working but it isn't. The ports are being added to the firewall list of my router but isn't allowing incoming connections through them. I've also tried having the modem connected directly to my PC but it still doesn't work.
