rb1401 Posted December 13, 2007 Report Posted December 13, 2007 I postred a previous message about this when using an earlier version of U.Torrent. Now using 1.7.5 but still having this problem. When I closed down UTorrent and restart the Computer, all my downloading files need to be checked. I have previously been advised to ensure that I shut down properly but I do and that isn't the solution. There is no indication that UTorrent is still running when I shut down so I am at a loss as to what is happening. It is a nuisance when dlownloading large files as it takes an age for them to be checked before recommencing downloading. Any ideas please?
novacio Posted December 13, 2007 Report Posted December 13, 2007 1) When you close uTorrent application, are there any torrents still checking? You have to wait while all hashes will be verifyed, and only after that exit uTorrent.2) After exiting uTorrent manually (File -> Exit) look for uTorrent.exe in Process Explorer or in standart Ctrl+Alt+Del dispatcher. Pressing letter «U» on the keyboard may be useful for your search = ) There must not be uTorrent.exe in processes.3) Try to delete file uTorrent.exe after exiting uTorrent, delete it to the basket — you will be able to restore it (or download new from http://utorrent.com). If the file deletes — write about it on the forum, if «it is locked» — wait a dozen of seconds and try to delete it again. Post the results here.I also wrote a message from a man having the same problem saying that returning from 1.7.5 back to 1.6.1 helped. My own mind is wrong completion time, which is too short on your system, that's why Windows forcibly crashes applications. If you're using XP, you may go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control in regedit.exe and change parameter Wait... from 2000 (20 seconds) to 3000 (30 seconds) or more. The system will be not so fast, but stable to shutdown.
jewelisheaven Posted December 13, 2007 Report Posted December 13, 2007 The default for uT is to wait 10 seconds to close down. To prolong this and stop pending application tasks try bt.graceful_shutdown under Ctrl-P -> Advanced. NOTE: this will take however long it takes to finish. Please let uT close on its own. If you kill it, you will still have to suffer through a recheck. There are also threads mentioning this
kutusername Posted December 13, 2007 Report Posted December 13, 2007 Since yesterday( december 12th 2007) I have the same problem, every time I start utorrent it's starts checking all my files. Before yesterday, it only happened if I reset my pc when it crashed or something. I'm sure I wait long enough before restarting utorrent, so that's not the problem. I noticed having had an automatic update for Windows yesterday, so I put my PC back to the day before the update, didn't make a difference.I don't know why but 2 days later and the problem is solved, it doesn't check my files anymore
