BobAchgill Posted December 14, 2007 Report Posted December 14, 2007 Are there any special things to consider when both peer computers are connected to the same router to get to the internet?Does that combo work for them to be peers to one another? I have searched the docs, FAQs but don't find the answer.Bob
Lord Alderaan Posted December 14, 2007 Report Posted December 14, 2007 If you are on the same network you should find each other automatically through LPD.
Switeck Posted December 14, 2007 Report Posted December 14, 2007 It doesn't work very good for them to both be on the same torrent at once -- MOST BitTorrent clients will block duplicate ips...and some may even BAN that ip!You can add the LAN ip for the other computer if you want to try to "encourage" LAN transfers of the duplicate torrents. (Your half open rate needs to be greater than 0 to EVER try that LAN ip though...)
kurahashi Posted December 14, 2007 Report Posted December 14, 2007 ...unless you didn't turned Local Peer Discovery feature off.
Switeck Posted December 14, 2007 Report Posted December 14, 2007 Have you ever tried µTorrent (and LPD?) with half open rate set to 0?It's an eye-opener.Many torrents that have already been started will continue so long as you're unfirewalled, often gaining connection to seeds and peers you never connected to before. If Local Peer Discovery is overriding a half open rate of 0, I would consider that a bug.
