Total Newbie - Need May Questions Answered

Ok - I'll try to make this short. I am so new to this that you can seriously compare me to a new born not even able to stand up in my crib.

I do not understand simple terminoligy to start off with and I'm sure I'll have many, many more questions later in this post and down the line.

Trust me, I've searched the forums for these and other questions but come up empty. If there is a sticky somewhere with the simple things listed for the simple minds like mine, please direct me there.

What are Seeders are?

What are Peers are?

What is Status Seeding?

What is the Pieces tab?

What is Logger Tab for?

Testing if port is forwarded properly? Which always shows ERROR - Port xxxxx does not appear to be open. Funny though, I can DL & it seems others are uploading from me.

I have followed the instructions on how to do this and still nothing. I am totally lost. I'd even like to speak to someone on the phone that could walk me through setting all of this up properly. I could call you as I have free nation wide & Canada calling. If anyone would be interested in doing this you can email me directly. Contact me and I'll provide email addy.

I am able to dl files but they are very slow. I'm talking one file (5 meg took around 28 hours). I have comcast high speed interent connection, I am using windows XP home, very fast PC, linksys router, Norton Anti Virus, Windows Firewall.

If anyone is interested in helping me out, I would really appreciate it.

Sorry but you can find most of those answers in the FAQ and Guides.

Logger tab is to keep track of important messages and errors.

Forwarding a port is not required but strongly recommended. It will improve speeds and solve quite a few issues.

ComCast is a known BitTorrent traffic throttler (=limiting/disabling BitTorrent). Switch to another ISP.

Thanks but that's of no help. I said I was a Total newbie. Dummy is more like it. I could not find any of the answers to the questions I asked. I thought someone could give me simple answers to the specific questions I asked. Thanks for your try.
